PewterReport.com is proud to announce the addition of former Buccaneers legendary defensive end Chidi Ahanotu to the editorial staff. Ahanotu will be contributing a weekly column to PewterReport.com using his 12 years of NFL experience as a guide in educating and entertaining Bucs fans.

Ahanotu played eight years for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 1993-2000 and ranks fifth all-time in sacks in team history with 34.5. His 10 sacks in 1997, which was a career-high, aided the Bucs in making the playoffs for the first time in 13 years.

In the 1997 wild card playoff game against Detroit at Houlihan’s Stadium, which Tampa Bay won, 20-10, Ahanotu recorded a key sack of quarterback Scott Mitchell to help the Bucs claim the victory. That monster 1997 season helped Ahanotu become Tampa Bay’s franchise player in 1998.

Ahanotu finished his NFL career playing for St. Louis (2001), Buffalo (2002), San Francisco (2003) and Tampa Bay (2004). He played in Super Bowl XXXVI for the Rams and retired from the NFL as a Buccaneer following the 2004 season.

PewterReport.com publisher Scott Reynolds covered Ahanotu for most of his Buccaneers career from 1995-2000, and is excited about having him join in the website’s Bucs coverage.

“Aside from his ability to get to the quarterback and contain the run, the thing I most admired about Chidi Ahanotu’s time with the Buccaneers was how perceptive he was about the media and the Tampa Bay fan base, and how he was such a straight shooter when it came to interviews,” said Reynolds. “When I wanted the pulse on what was going on with the Buccaneers in the locker room and in the meeting rooms at One Buccaneer Place, I went to Chidi. We are thrilled to have Chidi join the PewterReport.com staff as a weekly columnist and he has assured us that he will bring that candor and straight-shooting style from the locker room to our website and the PewterReport.com readers.”

Aside from being a columnist for PewterReport.com, Ahanotu is the owner of Cigars of Soho, which is located at 212 S. Armenia Avenue in Tampa, Fla. Cigars of Soho is the only South Tampa cigar lounge open after dinner to enjoy a nice cigar. Wednesday night is poker night at 9:00 p.m., and the lounge has NFL games on high definition TV on Sunday and Monday nights.
