Tampa Bay LeGarrette Blount and rookie linebacker Mason Foster were not only recognized by their teammates, fans and local media after helping lead the Buccaneers come back from a 17-0 deficient Sunday in Minnesota, but their efforts also led him to be nominated for three weekly NFL awards between the two.
Blount and his 71-yard, 2-touchdown day Sunday caught the attention of the league and the second-year running back is a finalist for the FedEx Ground NFL Player of the Week along with Buffalo’s Fred Jackson and Atlanta Falcon running back Michael Turner.
Blount’s 27-yard touchdown run in the third quarter also placed him as a finalist for the GMC Never Say Never Moment of the Week where he is up against Dallas quarterback Tony Romo and Buffalo quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Mason Foster’s 10-tackle, one sack, and one forced fumble effort earned him a nomination for the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week along with Carolina quarterback Cam Newton, Cincinnati quarterback Andy Dalton, Oakland receiver Denarius Ware, and Miami running back Daniel Thomas.
Fans can vote for the their choices at NFL.com/FedEx until 3 p.m. and also NFL.com/rookies until noon Friday. Winners will be announced Friday on NFL Total Access
