Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman held his weekly press conference on Wednesday at One Buccaneer Place and discussed on his play through the first three weeks of the NFL season, as well as the upcoming game against the Indianapolis Colts on Monday night. The following is a transcript of Freeman's press conference.

On the significance of playing on Monday Night Football:
“I cannot remember the last time I didn’t watch Monday Night Football, so it will be a great opportunity for us to go out and execute our game plan.”

Is there one Monday Night Football game you remember as a kid or teenager over the years?
“I don’t know. There have been so many [and] not really any that just stand out stand out. But you kind of watch them all because there is nothing else to do on Monday nights.”  

Can you evaluate your play thus far in the season?
“Obviously, the two turnovers in the red zone [are] unacceptable and not something you really anticipate doing or expect to continue doing. But with that being said, we have been pretty efficient on third downs, and we found a way to win two games. Obviously, the first game [we] couldn’t quite get it done, but I feel like we are heading in the right direction.”

On the two interceptions in the end zone, is that your confidence maybe getting the better of you?
“A little bit of that and a little bit of ... the Minnesota one, I didn’t really have my feet set. I was thinking about checking it down [and] the linebackers pulled up fast, so I lost the check down. I looked up and saw Kellen [Winslow] flash and just got it out a little late.”

Were those interceptions result of decision-making?

“At the end of the day, that’s what it comes down to.”

How do you handle the expectations of coming into the game with the expectation to win?
“We just go play our game the same way we would if everyone was saying we were going to lose. We don’t really pay attention to what’s going on outside of this building. We see the Colts for what kind of a team they are. We know they are a good team, and no matter what the media is saying about them, we are going to have to go out and execute if we want to win.”

What are your impressions on the Colts' pass rush in general, and about DE Dwight Freeney?
“Both of those guys (Freeney and defensive end Robert Mathis), especially at home, they are two of the best. It is going to be definitely a challenge for Donald [Penn] and [Jeremy] Trueblood, but I expect them to go out and play well. I am sure they expect to go out and play well. But yes, it is going to be a challenge. We are doing some things to maybe lighten their load a little bit. At the same time, it is just going to come down to going out and getting it done.”

How is the connection with rookie tight end Luke Stocker going?
“Good. Luke is solid. He has been really solid for us, whether it is in the run game or in the pass game. He has found a way to make himself a valuable option.”

Did you and Stocker start to connect through offseason?
“Yes. Luke was one of the guys that was there. He was there the whole time, and yes, I definitely developed some chemistry with Luke.”

Is there a difference of having more media in town for Monday Night Football:
“Yes, it is definitely a little different. Monday night is a pretty big deal. I think you can’t really buy into all this stuff going around like swirling the media [and] the national media coming in and all the stuff that is going to be different like the scheduling differences with having the game on Monday. We are changing up our practice a little bit this week, so you just have to lock in. Do what you do and come in everyday with the same approach and if you do that and go out and play well you will be fine.”
