ESPN Reports Bucs' Fine To Be $250,000

As reported by ESPN's Pat Yasinskas and Adam Schefter, the league will be levying a $250,000 fine on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for improper offseason contacts between the organization and players earlier this year.

Any such contact was prohibited during the lockout and head coach Raheem Morris's calls to players led to the league's investigation of the team. Morris had already admitted to making the calls earlier this season, including a congratulatory one to TE Kellen Winslow on the birth of his child and another to Aqib Talib after the cornerback was charged with assault this spring.

    Owners need to change commissioners. Goodell is running the league like his own little kingdom.

    This really is BS. My understanding of the rule was that the coaches could be in contact with the players, but it could only be about non-football stuff. Now how you prove whether that's what happened is up for debate. I vaguely remember some players and coaches ending up at the same charity event during the lockout, but I can't remember the team. They didn't talk about football from what I read, so nobody seemed to care. Oh, and since the league obviously remembers we're still alive down here in Florida, how about they send some info about T-Jack along with that fine envelope?

    Glad the bucs got their *censored* whooped today, hopefully serves them as a "WAKE UP CALL''.. Never have I ever seen them play so bad and be so undisiplined! Raheem, you and Olson better fix your F*** ups or your going to find your selfs job less. The entire team was a complete disappointment, and all aspects of the poor coaching showed. If the Glazers are wondering why games are not being sold out, this game was a prime example. Theres no reason or excuse for only putting up 3 points. Buccaneers Game Grade= F+

    They should be fined only for the lack of play against the 49ers. Outplayed on offense, defense and special teams. Out coached too. We were not ready and it showed. A game to not even review on Tuesday. PS - fining the Bucs for contacting the players as friends is BS.
