Wednesday night Buccaneers quarterback Josh Freeman was a guest on NFL Network and at one point was seen wearing what appeared to be a splint on his right (throwing) thumb.

Head coach Raheem Morris commented on what has become “Thumb-Gate” amongst the media during his Thursday after-practice press conference.

“It’s actually tape,” Morris said. “Ask the Saints. I guess they reported it. That’s why we reported it. The league asked us to. He sprained it during the Chicago game. He came in and practiced during the bye week and didn’t miss anything this week.”

“He will be playing versus the – well, he might not play against the Saints,” Morris joked.

Morris, nor offensive coordinator Greg Olson, elaborated on when or how Freeman injured his thumb in London, but both gave the impression it is a non-issue and won’t hamper Tampa Bay’s signal-caller Sunday in New Orleans.

On Thursday morning, Freeman texted Pewter Report and said that the injured thumb was nothing to be concerned about.
