The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that they have activated LS Andrew Economos from the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list and waived S David Sims.

Economos, who joined the Buccaneers in 2006, has played in 67 games during his career as the primary long snapper for the team. Last season, he was voted special teams captain and played in all 16 games.

“I can't say enough about how the organization," Economos said."From Mark Dominik to Coach Morris to (special teams) coach Dwayne Stukes – they have had so much faith in me from he beginning of this – I can’t say enough about how much I appreciate how they treated me. I couldn’t ask for anything better. Now I just have to go out there and prove they made the right decision.

Sims was signed as an undrafted free agent by the N.Y. Giants in July 2011, and was waived during final cuts. He played collegiately at Iowa State University, recording 96 tackles, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one interception as a senior. In his junior season, Sims was named the Big 12 Conference's Defensive Newcomer of the Year after recording 88 tackles, five interceptions, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

Its good to get him back. Now lets play BUCS BALL THE REST OF THE SEASON WITH KICKING THE ____ ____ _____ _____ OUT OF THE SAINTS, AND DROP THEM TWO GAMES BEHIND TAMPA. ALOT OF PEOPLE DON'T GIVE TAMPA ANY CREDIT AT 4 AND 3. BUT REMEMBER TAMPA IS ALWAYS A SECOND HALF OF THE SEASON FOOTBALL TEAM. IF TAMPA COULD WINS THIS WEEKEND OVER TYHE SAINTS AND NEXT WEEK BACK IN FRONT OF OUR HOME FIELD CROWD, THEN TAMPA COULD GIVE THE PACKERS ALL THEY WANT. IAM READING WHAT TAMPA WRITERS SAY ABOUT CERTAIN PLAYERS TAMPA HAS THEIR EYES ON FOR THE 2012 DRAFT, AS WELL AS THE REST OF THE LEAGUE. GO BUCS LETS MAKE THE PLAYOFFS FOR THIS TEAM NOW AND THE COACHING STAFF AS WELL AS THE FANS ALL AROUND THE WORLD. TAMPA STILL DOESN'T GET ANY RESPECT YET SINCE 2002 SUPER BOWL CHAMPS. I KNOW ITS HARD TO REPEAT. WHY NOW NOW GO BUCSGLH

I thought it was nuts that we picked him, now a few days later we cut him? He wasn't on anybody's PS; I'd preferred we had at least brought in another RB, TE, FB, veteran Center, veteran CB (cut Lewis), or another LB. I would hope by now we know who is starting and who is not. I know we won't know until the game starts.

I guess he perhaps finds his way back to the practice squad....??? Either way, good to have Economos back, he's a great special teams player and a superior long-snapper.
