While many tickets are still available for Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans, the Buccaneers did announce that the game versus the other team from the state Texas has sold out.
The Buccaneers' Dec. 17 NFL Network broadcast game with the Dallas Cowboys sold out Tuesday marking just the second game over the last two seasons that a home game will be seen locally. The Oct. 3 Monday Night game with the Colts was the first game since 2009 to sell out in time to lift the NFL 72-hour blackout policy.
Coming into this season many felt the two nationally televised games (Colts and Cowboys) had the highest likelihood of selling out. Unless something drastic happens, those two games most likely will be the only two home games (not counting the London home game) that will be shown locally.
A published report by the Daily Beast recently listed Tampa as the eighth “brokest” city in America and No. 1 in cities that host a professional sports franchise. The data used to compute the figures included unemployment, average credit score, personal debt and median household income.
