I thought this organization wanted to go young. That should apply to coaches as well as players. Look at New Orleans 48 year old Sean Payton. You can win with younger coaches. Raheem was put in a terrible situation and he was to buddy buddy with the players. I really don't believe he had much input as to what was really going on with player personnel decisions. I believe that eventually Raheem is going to make a really good head coach somewhere after he gains some more coaching experience. You don't have to be a former veteran old man coach like the retreads the Glazers are looking at to be successful. Most of them are not successful. It is a proven fact that retread coaches just go around in circles and fail over and over again. If the Glazers hire an old man they will be looking for a new coach in less than 3 years again. Former younger coordinators and some position coaches usually make good head coaches more so than not. Rich Bisaccia is the perfect answer to the coaching search. He was the only coach to show discipline to the players on the Bucs not to mention that his special teams were among the tops in the NFL. The players also respected Bisaccia because he was a defensive minded coach. Given the opportunity I believe he could accomplish some great things. The problem is the Glazers are still pissed because he left the Bucs to take the same position elsewhere I do not know why the Glazers are so intent on hiring an offensive minded coach. It is nice to score points but you win with defense. It also wouldn't hurt to hire someone like Derrick Brooks, not necessarily as a head coach but in some capacity to coach these young players on how to play and how to conduct themselves off the field. This team definitely needs some discipline and veteran leadership.

Heard today that they are interviewing Brad Childress. What the hell is wrong with these *censored* clowns. If they hire Brad Childress I will burn my Bucs stuff and will not ever attend a game while he is coach. They shouldn't even be interviewing him. Mike Sherman was bad enough, Wade Philips, Brad Childress? Apparently these CLowners are dumber than I thought. Do they want us to wish we had Rah back?

I disagree with the notion that a quality Coach would not want to come here. First you have a very young Team with lots of high draft picks along the DL. You have a lot of talent at WR even though young and unpolished. You got a young big strong armed QB and a couple of very good OL. You got one decent TE and several Quality DB's. And you have a top 5 Draft choice and a front office that allows the Coach to Coach and lets the Manager get personel. We do not have Power hungry owners. We have cheap owners. Something tells me that is about to change.

Marty Morningwhine are you serious? Didn't he suck it up in Detroit? Sherman reminds me too much of Dan Reeves, a whiny azz coach. That little incident with Sapp really soured me against him. I'm not sure if Fisher is the right choice. Martz is interesting only he is too haphazard as a coach. Marinelli I'm not sure of either because of Detroit but he knows defense and could be a possibility at DC if he's not with Chicago Billick is a good choice because he coached a great defense. Imagine where'd he be if he had Joe Flacco playing the way he is. The name most intiguing put out there is Rich Bisaccia. I saw him on an in game video bite and he speaks in a way the players could relate to and respect. He sems to be a no nonsense kind of person who doesn't take crap off of anyone, something this team needs. He returned our special teams to one of the best in the league working with players from both sides of the ball not just one. Something a head coach has to be able to do Plus you have to be tough to be a special teams player something a cornerback isn't really known for. What was Raheems postion he coached? Hence the the softness this team has shown over the last three years. All I know is the Glazers had better get this one right because if they continue with this pinching of the penny way of doing business then I say it's time for the fans who do show up for the games bring back the PAPER BAGS!!!

The coaches willing to interview with the Bucs are likely only doing so to use it as a bargaining chip to get a better salary at the job they really want. You could not design a scenario that would be less attractive to a prospective HC, than what the Bucs have assembled. Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed. SELL THE TEAM G"Losers"!!!!!!!

Maybe they will interview 5 to 10 coaches for the head coach, plus some of the coaches that are out of coaching maybe they would be Offensive and Defensive Coordinators whoever is picked as head coach. Let see if they get some on board with in the next 10 days. GO BUCS

Take it for what it's worth. Just what was local @ 6:00 news. Fox 13 had 2 reports. 1.. Gray was Flown in today .Will interview tomorrow. 2. Reporter Kevin ODonnell interviewed Coach Edwards in Orlando. He said he will not stop by 1 Buc. Has Not been contacted but the 2 biggest things he said were 1. He has been contacted by other NFL and college teams everytime positions come open. But he is happy doing what he is doing now. 2. The Bucs will find the right coach but they MUST get one who will instill Disipline.With what happened either you are coaching it or you are allowing it to happen. He also said Coach Morris let it let it get away from him a little. And that can happen with a young coach.

I also don't see why we aren't interviewing the Packers OC Joe Philbin. He has been the OC for GB for 4 years and each year was in the top ten. Joe Philibin helped developed Aaron Rodgers and even Matt Flynn so I am sure he can get Josh Freeman up to his potential.

A team is still only as good as its players. 49ers had talent that came together under a new head coach. Plus they play defense and run the football. A formula for success for many years in the nfl. Improve the Oline, draft a game changer in terms of speed for the offense, And for pete's sake get a DC who can make guys tackle and get off blocks. I will back any coach that comes to Tampa cause I am Fan of the team. We have enough talent to be bare min 8-8 every year. Just need coaching to get the two the three additional wins to be a contender. And I never thought that firing Gruden was a good idea...I dont have to have a deep playoff team every year (would be nice) as much as I like a team that plays good every week (which we did not do at all this year).

I like Sherman. 5 straight winning seasons is impressive. We have to become a winner before we can worry about playoffs or superbowls. We need a coach not a friend. These players have gotten use to a guy who is too much like them. They need a guy who isn't afraid to put players in their place. The days of Lombardi are over, but we need a hard *censored*. Sherman may not be that guy, but I have to say I liked Gruden. Cause if you were a screw up, Gruden would put you in your place fast. When you have a bunch of young millionaires, you gotta remind them constantly how fast that can change in this league.

There were 11 coaches hired when Morris became HC. In just 3 years, 8 have been fired and only 3 remain. There are 5 open HC jobs to date. Two more are off death row (Turner, Reid) and the names you guys are throwing out there are not getting any looks so far. There might be a reason. The name that the majority doesn’t like, Fisher is getting the most looks. There might be a reason. I’m neutral because I don’t think it matters all that much. The administration and the direction from the top will be the determining factor in our success, that is why so many GMs around the league are being let go. If the stat that I mentioned in the first sentence is a likely trend, we will be picking a new coach in 3 years anyway!

I think bringing in Bisaccia for an interview is a great idea. The question I have is would Bisaccia consider the opportuntiy? I know it's a head coaching opportunity in the NFL and there's only 32 of these jobs, but he left the organization for a lateral move to San Diego. There must have been a reason to leave. I think the Bucs wanted to retain him. Maybe he left when he didn't like the direction the organization was going. If that's the case, the situation hasn't changed much. Same GM and same owners. I don't know the answer, but I would give him a shot over many of the other names mentioned. In my opinion, Sherman wouldn't be a long term solution, nor would it be a cultural change in the organization. I see him as another 3 year HC. I would much rather see the organization give the opportunity to someone like Bisaccia.

One last comment I want to throw in is that as we discuss who our next HC should be no one should be throwing up their hands and just saying, "Well, things couldn't be any worse than they are now so I'm okay with John Doe taking over the team." Until we go 0-16 things can always get worse. If we're not careful there is no guarantee we won't be like the Lions and have a sign downtown 30 years from now that says, "The Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Rebuilding since 2002".

As for Bisaccia I wouldn't mind having him either. The only thing that worries me about him is the Glazers had a golden opportunity to promote him to HC after they fired Gruden. Hell, they could've done that and kept Morris as a DC and they probably both would have been happy. Instead, they promoted Morris to HC even though they knew Bisaccia would leave the first chance he got. The Glazers were more concerned about losing Raheem than Bisaccia. Not a comforting endorsement for Bisaccia in my book from the people that know Morris and Bisaccia better than any of us.

I'm not a fan of Sherman, but as I looked around the national websites that posted the story that the Bucs are interviewing Sherman most of the Packers fans that posted had good things to say about Sherman. They said he is a good coach but his player evaluation stinks. We have Dominik and Hickney for player evaluation. I guess I'm saying that if the Bucs do end up hiring Sherman as the HC I would give him a chance. The same goes for Gray.

I love coming into the fray late since I enjoy the comments more than the articles. I don't want to reject any candidates at this point since I know once the choice is made I will give him my support until he proves to be unworthy. I believe most of us will be adult enough to do that. Like many of you, I think Jeff Fisher is probably the safest choice, albeit not necessarily the best choice. I don't think the Glazers should be afraid to take a chance on a first-time HC. Is it better to hire an experienced HC who has already failed and been fired or a highly regarded coordinator/position coach who exhibits the qualities necessary to lead a team? I heard Steve Duemig bring up Rich Bisaccia's name. I hadn't previously thought about our former Wefence coach but the more I reflected back on his time here the more I was intrigued by the possibility. Mike Sherman probably will send out a scouting party to One Buc before showing up for his interview to make sure #99 isn't in the building ready to kick his a$$. Is Jerry Gray the "Gray matter" Raheem feared?

@scubog -- agreed, 100%. Once a decision has been made, which is all on the Glazers (with input from Dom), I'm all in behind whoever gets to drive the pirate ship. I'll then start looking for the positives. I'm actually not all doom and gloom and do agree that an actual winning attitude, projected from above (ie, the Glazers) needs to be filtered down along with some cash for free agents this go around (would've love to have gotten Jonathan Joseph last season).

The thing people are forgetting about Jeff Fisher is that he coached in the same division as Peyton Manning which basically guaranteed a division winner for the Colts leading Jeff Fisher to always play for a wild card spot. Now your lucky to split with Peyton Manning but you will probably lose both of those games so now you will probably have to go 10-4 the rest of the year to make the playoffs while vs a once talented Jags team with Fred Taylor. Now if Jeff Fisher is HC he can take this team places because he would not have to only go for a wild card spot and instead he can play for the division. Jack Del Rio or Steve Spag would be a great fit for DC and for OC I don't know but almost anyone would be better then Greg Olson. I wish Raheem Morris and the rest of the staff well and am sad to say they couldn't finish the job.

hey guys i know this might sound crazy but what about the old usf coach Jim levett. he built the entire usf football program from scrap and did a great job. plus he is a hard nose no nonsense kind of guy that brings the best out of his players and gets them fired up. the only reason he was fired was because he hit one of his own player which is exactly what he should do with some of ours. anybody who watched his games knows what im talking about.

Basaccia or Marinelli? Really guys. Marinelli totally tanked in Detroit and at best is a DC only. Basaccia has even less HC experience than Raheem. Both would be horrible choices for this team. I'd like to see Chip Kelly as HC, Spagnulo as DC. Other coaches as chosen by Kelly

ALL of the excellent (and otherwise) coaches out there that are or were head coaches had NO EXPERIENCE AS A HEAD COACH BEFORE THEIR FIRST HEAD COACHING JOB. I don't think it is an absolute to have a coach with HC experience. I'd accept and embrace Bisaccia in a heartbeat, without question. I'd actually thought about Chip Kelly though - intriguing. Not sure if he'd bring his shell-game mindset with him or not (as I think it is fun to watch but would result in disaster at the NFL level).

Bucko40, what you seem to forget is that Rich B has been coaching football College & NFL for about 25 yrs. He is well respected by players and coaches around the league. He's a great motivator ( remember our Special Teams before Rich ) ummmm yeah! 30 yrs without a return and always giving away huge returns until Rich arrived. Some special Teams have become great HC, ie... The Ravens head Coach. just ask Gruden or Allen why they did their best to NOT loose Rich when other Teams wanted to interview him. As far as Marinelli he had absolutely no talent in Detroit but if you remember he demands great respect and is a great motivator. He would be my 3rd choice. I'm not convince with Kelly. There's no way we have the players to run his type of offense and his defense suck. I don't believe he can put a better staff together better than Rich B can. If we can land Fisher The GLAZERS should give Rich B a chance to work with players he knows and coach in the past.

The more I think about it, the more I like the Rich Bisaccia idea proposed by bucs4life79. I also heard Duemig talk about it today on 620 AM. He obviously has a great knowledge of the organization (the good and the bad), many of the current players, the owners, and Dominick. Rich seemed to be well liked and respected, and is not just an "offensive guy" or a "defensive guy", but worked with players from both sides of the ball to form one of the best special teams units in the NFL. It is still unclear to me why he would make a lateral move to the Chargers, especially considering he had the assistant head coach title here for a while, and word has it that the Bucs didn't even let him interview with anyone. He went to SD only after his contract was up. From seeing him in the past, he is intense, disciplined and wouldn't take any *censored* from anybody on the team. Just what the Bucs, who are young, but act like toddlers having temper tantrums, could use....a kick in their pull-ups. I think he could put together a great staff as well. He is also 51, so he is about 15 years older than Ronde and Raheem, but not so old as to be eligible for Medicare. I was unsure of, but supported Raheem. I'm not positive on Bisaccia (how could one be?), but I just feel like he FITS.

Well I don't mind a 3-4 defence however the Bucs don't have the type of players to run a 3-4 defence. So you would hyave to draft and sign FA's who can run a 3-4. Talk about another year or so to be efficient in it.

I would like to see Rod Marinelli considered as well. He is the D cordinator for the Bears and that Bears defense was pretty darn good this year! He knows the BUCS tradition. I think he would be a GREAT HC as long as he brings some solid coaches with him. I also would like to see Stoops and the DC for San Fransico considered as well.

Bisaccia is a very interesting thought but I wonder why no one else has considered him for anything but Special Teams coach? He was our Running Backs coach for one year under Gruden and everyone wanted him gone! Whoever becomes our next coach needs to be the HC only but needs to bring solid OC and DC with them. If it is Bisaccia so be it! and he would have my full support. I also say NO WAY to SHERMAN....

Staff, I know it's not anything that you guys are doing, but please if there is some way to get the Bucs management a word, please pass along this. The Buccaneers organization WILL NOT get any of my time or money if they bring Mike Sherman in as HC. Unfortunately, that would include not re-newing my P.R. subscription either..That's not at all something that I want to do, but I'd rather cut the BS and aggravation out of my life that comes from stressing myself out over my home team because it's management refuses to spend the money needed to ensure the teams success. That press conference on monday sounded almost identicle to the one they gave 3 years ago when they fired Gruden...they swore then too that they'd spend money to fill in the talent gaps...I think at this point the Glazers should be politicians....They can BS the people and sell their souls to the all mighty dollar like the greatest of them...leave managing football teams to those who want to spend and win.

I agree with you buc4life79, Mike Sherman is an insult to the BUCS fans. THAT'S A JOKE. If the GLAZERS pick him I will call the same day and CANCEL the seasons Tickets I've own for the last 15 yrs. I'm DONE! If we can land Fisher give Rich Bisaccia an opportunity. He knows all these players very well and who needs to keep or let go. His also highly respected around the league. He also won't lean to the D or the Offense when the draft come around although one of the MAJOR needs on this Team is the lack of SPEED on offense. Draft Trent Richarson and get a Veterant fast Wide Receiver to teach Ben & Williams how to run routes and get open. They are a few good ones that out there that are Free agents. Also bring in Landry to be our safety, we need a physical presence back there and making receivers think when they come across the middle. I doubt the Redskins can afford him next year. Not sure why Jeff Fisher is getting so much love...he has never won anything. Meanwhile a Super Bowl winning coach like Brian Billeck doesn't even get a look-see.

Warren, fisher was literally 2 yards away from winning a Super Bowl. Billeck won with arguably the best Defense in Football. His been at the NFL Network for like 3-4 yrs and nobody was calling for him, why?? FIsher even won with Vince Young, and average receivers. 2 more yards and you would've a case. He almost beat the best show on turf.

Why the Hell would they hire Shermon. The guy can't even win in the Big 12 and they want to hire him as an upgrade over Rah? Man these Glazers are a bunch of idiots. Check the goofy face on Joel, ho looks like a guy who is clueless. Lets spend some cash on a coach that will get this team rolling. Shermon only did as well as he did bc of Favre and got creamed when Rodgers stepped in. Mike Martz, Fisher, Cowher enough said. Even though Cowher runs a 3-4, I still would want him over anyone else. If Mario Williams can succeed in a 3-4 as big as he is as an OLB, Bowers shouldn't have a problem. Time for a big change, a lot of great teams are 3-4 defenses now, seems like it could be beneficial being the only one in the South. Time to put some butts in those seats at RayJay, and some more talent on the field. GET LOST SHERMON!!!

The Glazers will have to make a giant turn around in how they spend on the Bucs for me to even care who the coach is this time around. They will have to get lucky to end up with a good coach...who would want to come to a place with a team that is a train wreck, with no proven stars, whose last 3 drafts have not really succeeded, whose owners have been at the bottom of the league in salary cap numbers for years and who have demonstrated that they won't spend money on free agents and with a stadium that is never filled, unless it is with the opponents fans. Good luck with that coaching search, as the bottom of the barrel is all that will be available. The Glazers have screwed everyone, players, coaches, taxpayers and fans and then chuckle during their press conferences because they know they put one over on everyone while taking the profits to pay down the debt on their other phootball team. They have really ruined football for me and I hate their guts.

They need to bring in a coach who can come in and establish a new culture and let it grow for a few years.. A guy who knows what he is doing and what direction he wants to take the team.. There is a lot of very good young talent in Tampa and they need a strict coach with a lot of experience who can be a teacher as well... Rah was cool but you can't be cool one minute then discipline your players next.. They stop listening!!!!!

PR - can we please start planting seeds for guys like Marty Morningwhig or Mike Zimmer? Both guys are consistent, creative and aggressive on their side of the ball and command the respect of their teams. I would like to think that them not being mentioned could be a good thing in that those guys don't show up on other teams radar but who knows these days. I want guys at the forefront on their side of the ball. Not guys who have 1 year under their belt or have been bouncing around from job to job showing no consistent winning track record. Many coaches bounce around the league, but I feel the ones that get fired found jobs back in the league way too quickly. Not everyone is ready to be a Head Coach, especially not for our young, under talented team with a major identity crisis to fix.
