Former Rutgers receivers coach P.J. Fleck resigned one day after taking the OC job at Northern University. Could this be a sign of an imminent move to Tampa to rejoin Schiano?
Former Rutgers wide receiver coach P. J. Fleck resigned one day after accepting the offensive coordinator job at Northern Illinois University according to a report from ESPN within the last hour.

While the reason is not clear, the fact that Fleck worked with Schiano at Rutgers could possibly mean a move to Tampa is coming in some capacity. Or perhaps Fleck will join Rutgers if Tampa hires current Rutgers offensive coordinator Frank Cingetti. It is all speculation at this point but worth noting especially with the lack of movement in hiring assistants.

Fleck’s coaching career began under Jim Tressel at Ohio State after his brief career in the NFL as a wide receiver for the San Francisco 49ers. Fleck was hired by Schiano in 2010 and coached wide receivers.

Rome wasnt built in a day and neither will the rebuilding of the Bucs. Coaches will come and go. Let's see who is hired first before judgement is passed.

    1) Lovie Smith was hired out of college coaching to be on Tony Dungy's first staff. 2) Rod Marinelli was hired out of college coaching to be on Tony Dungy's first staff. 3) Mike Tomlin was hired out of college coaching to replace Herm Edwards as DB coach on Tony Dungy's staff. The idea that a college coach can't come in and be an NFL position coach is ludicrous. Cignetti has NFL experience, by the way. Schiano has emphasized great teachers. There's no reason why a college coach can't be just as effective at teaching as one with NFL experience.

buccaneerNW, I hear you and agree except Toney Dungy was a very experience NFL Defensive Coach at various positions for many years. I am fine if the HC has NFL experience in wanting to hire College Coaches, but not at the OC/DC positions when your HC also came especially from a small college.

Just remember that an lot of coordinators and coaches in the NFL today came up form the college ranks and nobody knew anything about them. You really don't know what someone can do until they get the opportunity.

sure hope it is someone on each side of the line with NFL experience who becomes OC and DC.

I hope that the only way either one of these guys is coming to the Bucs, is as an assistant coach ONLY. It sounds like it is his first crack at an OC position period, and that will not cut it in the NFL. Maybe a WR coach or something is OK.

I hope this is not going to happen, because Rutgers is not some dynamic University. I can understand taking the Head Coach because of who he is, but not someone with Fleck limited experience. I am not even sure if Cingetti is qualified either. I will wait for PR to give their opinion on this one. Ugh!!!
