how do you hire assistants and position coaches to work for offense and defense coordinators that are not yet in place? That's like hiring coordinators before you hire a head coach. Won't any coordinator want to hire his own staff?

I am sure Raye is in place due to his long NFL career...the rest of the negative the Government oh i mean Glazers are the real problem...Schiano has say on coaches and he is going to work with the guys he wants! Not even combine time and the bashing has begun...once again proves why the rest of the country thinks Tampa has the worst fans in football...

McNulty wont be coming free~especially if Payton ends up in Arizona..I think the Bucs had one plan~grabbing Kelly.He would have easily built a coaching staff based on what he has done in Oregon.When he very publicly bowed out,I think that basically red flagged this team(like it needed an help).We now have an unproven coach in the NFL trying to build a staff when the word on the street is the team doesnt pay and he got hired for half of what they offered Kelly...The Glazers are killing the team..

I too, like Turner better than Shoop. I hope they have a plan. Maybe they were narrowing down the possibilities and if no one emerges, they will break the bank and hire Hue Jackson. He is still available and is the BEST offensive mind out there, period! ! ! I do not like him, and apparently, no body else does either. I hear his attitude is not that great. That is a good fall-back plan. Even if he is only here for a year or two, maybe then we can get McNulty from Ari when his contract is up. Maybe the lack of an offer from anyone will humble Jackson a little bit too, and he will adjust his attitude.

Who cares. Its not like any of the games will be on TV and if you think I am paying what NFL teams charge to see this semi pro team... Although with the mind set at 1 buc place maybe they reallly do think that. Here is an idea. Lets hire the Harlem Globe Trotters coach they win EVERY GAME !!

Typical Glazer standard operating procedure. One again they have firgured out a way to F*** up a free lunch. How in the world do you piss around and wait until there are no viable coaches to fill your Co-ordinators positons. And then to top it off you hire all of these position coaches without any inout from the co-ordiators that they will be working under. Nothing like doing things *censored* backwards. Also apparently the word is out that the Glazers do not pay top dollar to their co-ordinators. I have a very uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach that things are not working out very well for this new regime. Although we could get lucky and possibly hire some coaches or bring coaches from their college team like Harbaugh did with the 49er's. It always seems to happen to the Bucs. I hope that the Glazers, who seem to have a lack of interest in the team because of the damned Manchester United Soccer team , would sell the team to new owners that would actually have an interest in building a competitive football team.The Bucs are really going to have to hope for the best results with the stupid plan they have in place to put together a decent coaching staff. It is rare that I agree with every word that I read in a post. Well done man. My thoughts exactly. Eff Man U. I would LOVE it if the Glazers sell the team. My only encouragement comes from the new "salary basement" clause in the new CBA. . .the Glazers won't be able to skimp on players' wages so we will be forced to spend money on the field. That will be a nice change of pace.

I agree bucsnews, how in the world do we hire a senior assistant without having a coordinator?? What if the 2 guys do not get along? What if their offensive philosophies are different? What is going on? I hope they make an announcement soon. Maybe they know who it will be or have it narrowed down to 2 or 3 people. I hope so. C'mon Bucs, lets make a good hire and get this thing started. We need to know what kind of players to concentrate on in our scouting.

Guys, I don't think that we can believe any of these reports until some official reports are released. Haven't we learned anything from the almost Chip Kelly hire and eventual Schiano hire? No one saw these coming.

Shoop would be disgusting; I agree. Personally, Im not much of a fan of Turner either. However, when you wait this long to hire a coach and are getting badmouthed around the league as being cheap, this is what happens- you get scraps.

Didn't the Bears win their division in 2001 the first year Shoop was OC?

Living in Chicago and having seen virtually every Bears game for the last twenty years or so, let me be the first to tell you that John Shoop was the WORST OC the Chicago Bears ever had in that timeframe. And that's saying a lot considering some of the putrid Bears offenses over the years. We'd be much better served with Ron Turner. He believes in the running game and balance. Bears fans hated him but he did the best with the talent he had.

It sounds like they're going about this backwards. Hiring a senior offensive assistant before hiring the OC? Wouldn't the OC want a say in who his assistant is? Hmm.
