Tampa Bay has made a huge splash in free agency, landing the top offensive weapon available in wide receiver Vincent Jackson. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the deal is a five-year, $55.55 million contract with $26 million in guaranteed money.

Jackson is a legitimate number one receiver as well as being a deep threat. He is coming off a season where he caught 60 passes for 1,106 yards (18.4 avg.) and tied a career high with nine touchdown catches. The 29-year old Jackson has a career 17.5 yards per catch average and would do wonders in stretching the defense and helping quarterback Josh Freeman develop.

The Bucs were lacking a true number one wide receiver, although Mike Williams has played that role for the past two seasons, totaling 1,735 yards and 14 touchdowns on 130 catches. But after a brilliant rookie season in which he hauled in a team-record 11 touchdowns, Williams' numbers slipped in 2011, as he only caught 65 passes for 771 yards and three scores.

Tampa Bay was also missing a deep threat in its arsenal as its receivers had failed to separate from defensive backs a year ago. Jackson, a 6-foot-5, 230-pound monster receiver, has deceptive speed and has posted 272 career catches for 4,754 yards and 37 touchdowns. He is an elite receiver and shows no signs of slowing down at age 29 after averaging 18.4 yards per catch while racking up his third career 1,000-yard season in 2011.

Despite missing 11 games in 2010, Jackson hauled in 36 receptions of 25 yards or more in the last four seasons, which ranked 10th in the NFL over that span.
