The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that they have signed 2012 fifth-round pick LB Najee Goode, and sixth-round pick DB Keith Tandy, to four-year contracts.
Goode was selected 140th overall out of West Virginia University, starting 26 games and tying a school record with 52 career games played. In his time with the Mountaineers, he finished with 157 tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss, 8.0 sacks, 13 passes defensed, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He was named first-team All-Big East following his senior season, in which he started all 13 games – five at weakside linebacker, four at middle linebacker and four at strongside linebacker – and led the team with 87 tackles and 15 tackles for loss. He also finished third on the team with 5.0 sacks.
Tandy was selected 174th overall from West Virginia University, where he started in 40 of the 45 games he played. He recorded 188 tackles, eight tackles for loss, 13 interceptions, 37 passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in his career with the team. Tandy finished as a two-time first-team All-Big East selection (junior and senior seasons) and earned second-team All-American honors from SI.com and third-team All-American honors from Rivals.com in 2010. He was also a three-time Big East Academic All-Star. As a junior, Tandy ranked fifth nationally in passes defensed (17) and 10th nationally in interceptions (five), while leading the Big East in both categories.
Tandy and Goode make four of seven Bucs draft picks to sign contracts, as seventh-rounders Michael Smith and Drake Dunsmore agreed to terms last week. Tampa Bay still has Mark Barron, Doug Martin and Lavonte David left to get under contract before training camp begins in late July.
