Bucs Awarded A Seventh-Round Compensatory Pick

The National Football League awarded 32 compensatory picks to 14 teams, the league announced Monday. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers received one compensatory pick -- a seventh-round selection (253rd overall). The Bucs now have a total of 12 draft picks heading into the 2005 NFL Draft.

The National Football League awarded 32 compensatory picks to 14 teams, the league announced Monday. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers received one compensatory pick -- a seventh-round selection (253rd overall).

The NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement states that a team losing more or better compensatory free agents than it acquires in a year is eligible to receive compensatory picks.

In 2004, Tampa Bay lost RBs Thomas Jones Aaron Stecker, QB Shaun King, DT Warren Sapp, P Tom Tupa, LB Nate Webster and TE Todd Yoder in free agency.

The Bucs signed LBs Keith Burns, Jeff Gooch and Ian Gold, CB Mario Edwards, RB Charlie Garner and G Matt Stinchcomb.

The Bucs have received 11 compensatory draft picks since 1993.

Tampa Bay now has 12 draft picks heading into the 2005 NFL Draft.

Listed below is the Buccaneers' draft order in terms of their selection in each round.

Round 2 - No. 4
Round 3 - No. 7
Round 3 - No. 27
Round 4 - No. 6
Round 5 - No. 5
Round 5 - No. 8
Round 6 - No. 4
Round 6 - No. 29
Round 7 - No. 7

Round 7 - No. 39
