The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed Cleveland Browns free agent linebacker Josh Buhl, PewterReport.com learned Tuesday.

The 6-foot, 211-pound Buhl entered the NFL in 2004 as an undrafted free agent out of Kansas State, where he was a four-year starter.

Buhl was plagued by injuries during his rookie training camp, which led to his release during the 2004 preseason. He was re-signed in February and allocated to NFL Europe, where the Browns wanted Buhl to play safety. However, Buhl resisted the position switch, which led to his release this spring.

Tampa Bay was interested in drafting Buhl, who notched 247 solo tackles, 151 assists and 398 total stops during his Wildcat career. He had 27 tackles for a loss, three sacks, five passes defensed, one forced fumble and seven fumble recoveries as K-State's Will linebacker.

Tampa Bay will not allocate Buhl to NFL Europe, instead opting to have him stay in town and participate in offseason team activities to increase his chances of earning a spot on the team's 53-man roster as a backup behind Pro Bowl WLB Derrick Brooks.
