The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have traded wide receiver Arrelious Benn, a former 2010 second-round pick, and the team's seventh-round pick in 2013 to the Philadelphia Eagles for a sixth-round pick in 2013 and a conditional pick in 2014. Benn has been viewed as a disappointment in Tampa Bay as he has struggled to stay healthy and has seen all three of his seasons end on injured reserve.

After playing in 15 games during his rookie season, Benn caught 25 passes for 395 yards and two touchdowns but tore his ACL in the season finale of 2010. He emerged as a starter in 2011 and played in 14 games, catching 30 passes for 441 yards and three touchdowns. That was his best season as a Buccaneer, but Benn's inability to stay on the field and develop into a consistent threat at wide receiver prompted the Bucs to pursue wide receiver Vincent Jackson in the 2012 offseason.

Benn suffered a knee injury on the second day of training camp and missed the 2012 preseason, which set him back in progressing in Tampa Bay's new offense and allowed newcomer Tiquan Underwood to step in and assume the third wide receiver spot on the depth chart. That moved Benn to the fourth wide receiver spot and made him expendable this offseason.

In 2012, Benn only played in eight games before a shoulder injury sidelined him for the season. He caught just six passes for 26 yards, and returned 13 kickoffs for 306 yards in a couple of games as Tampa Bay's kickoff returner.

The addition of former Dallas wide receiver Kevin Olgetree, who will battle with Underwood for the third receiver spot in Tampa Bay helped make Benn expendable. Benn, who is entering the last year of his contract, is set to make $630,000 in 2013.
