I think we are going to a 3-4 defense and maybe Mccoy moves outside

When your one of the worst Teams when it comes to a pass rush, and you let your best pass rusher go without even an effort to keep him, and make no effort to sign any other quality DL, what is your strategy going forward ? We don't know if Bowers will ever play another down in Tampa. We don't know if Clayton will be able to play or if his injury will prevent him. We have not signed a Corner or even made an effort to sign Biggers. Our Defense is where we need help and if we are forced to only draft defensive players in every round it will not be enough.

Go get Dumerville and quit crying about how small he is. He showed everyone he can get to the qb and would be one of the top de in the game. Wouldn't cost any draft picks, only money.

This organization really sucks. Say hello to more empty seats. Be lucky to get to 8 & 8 this year.

When players like Bennett and Miller are allowed to leave without much of a tug on their jersey as they hit the exit, it makes me believe that those who know better than anyone don't think they're worthy of hearing "Baby Come Back" play over the intercom at One Buc Palace.

C'mon people, it's not that bad. I would rather have a couple of the free agents out there than Bennett or Miller. Only problem now will be signing them before someone else gets them first, and having enough money left over to pay them. I really liked A Cason as a solid and cheaper CB but he is gone now too. I like S Pouha and A Branch at DT and We still have O Umenyora and I think Abraham left. We will not get Dumerville, so don't even ask, he is too expensive and too small. I sure hope we get either Revis or Grimes to pair with a rookie, or we may have to settle for D Hall or A Winfield. We really need some CB's!!! Some D-line depth would be nice too. I'm almost ready to tell the Jets forget it and go get Grimes AND Hall or Winfield for our 2 starters at CB and go get 1 DT and 1 DE in FA, then follow up with 1 each position in draft for depth, DL, DE and CB. In the long run, that will probably be cheaper anyway. Go Bucs, I sure hope you guys know what you are doing!!

Add Gerald McCoy to the list of the future of the Dline... If he also can stay healthy of course... So another solid DT and some depth will solidify this line... If we can keep all of these guys on the field that is... Their replacements that were so falsely over-rated are who I was referring to in the previous post... That is why they are gone...

Don't be so naive people... The only reason our Dline had the best run defense stats is because every team knew all they had to do was easily pick apart our secondary last year... Don't pretend like our defensive line was some kind of turn around dream team Cinderella story... Claiborne and Bowers are the future of that line if they can stay healthy... The rest are backups at best... If our secondary had any kind of stopping power teams would have run all over us... Especially up the middle... If we can get Revis and one other at least average corner then we will now have shut down Safeties with Barron and Goldson now that they wouldn't have to spend all their day running their butts off trying to provide extra help to horrendous F grade corners... And with Revis shutting down his side we are only one corner away from having a shut down secondary... That is when our Dline will be tested... Our offense led the league in scoring for at least a 6 game stretch last season and with Freeman not having to constantly gunsling in a Point race every game I feel that our offense minus a RT and maybe a second TE is pretty darn solid... So if we can land Revis and pick up through FA or the draft a second decent corner, a LB or 2 and a couple run stuffing guards we will be set... Obviously that is a big task but if we can land a solid player at all 3 levels on the D then it will automatically improve our defense by 150% So don't be fooled by our stats last year... Stats are for losers as a "Great Philosopher" once said... Our Dline didn't have to be tested last year because throwing the ball on us was so freakin easy... Time for some new blood whatever way we can get it... We haven't lost any future hall of famers here yet... Just some depth which hopefully we can find as well...

I think you might be on to something surfer- these aren't coaches guys but rather guys he was left to work with..he is building HIS team,not relying on the pieces left from rah rahs time at the helm..we are a work in progress,Revis would be nice but giving up a first rounder to make it happen worries me,esp. since we are still rebuilding and reformulating...

Well a week ago I would have said out first priority would be Defensive backs in the Draft but I think that is now our 2nd Priority. We need an entire Defensive Line. We basically have one for sure Starter, and a whole bunch of question marks.

These aren't Schiano players.Coach is going to be given time to draft the kind of D lineman, and corners he feels are best suited for his scheme. When top free agents like Jackson,Nicks,and Goldson come a long the Bucs will spend. Miller,and Bennett have been here for awhile, and our defense has sucked. I'm all for looking to up grade, you can't do that by re signing guys who've taken us no where. Time to move on Buc fans.

Another draft pick gone. Only 21 out of 57 players drafted since 2006 are still on the active roster as of today. They say you should grade a draft years later. lol i love how you guys and girls pewter report included, cry about losing a 2 down run stuffer with a bad back. Yet during the season everyone cried about hows he's only had 4 sacks in his entire career! GET OVER IT! Same goes for michael bennett the guy was average at best, and yet if dom had signed him too a mega deal and payed him a ton of money you guys would be saying how bad of a move it was, the guy had 9 sacks and 3 came against a terrible eagles left tackle. i have a good laugh evrytime i read these comments. when bowers has double digit sacks, everyone will say dom is a genius, and around we go.

Today JoeBucsFan.com cited a TBO interview with Schiano in week 17 last season. He stated this about Roy Miller: "He is a heck of a run stopper and plays the position, you know we call the tilt nose in our defense, he plays it very well. And he’s really custom-built to play it,” Schiano said yesterday. “I mean his traits really fit the position." So someone explain why he wasn't a good fit?

If they bring Biggers back there is something wrong in the front office !

If this trend continues, E.J. Biggers is probably in a witness protection program somewhere. I jest, wouldn't mind if Biggers was brought back for depth, but doesn't look good.

Whether Miller was a fit or not, the D was number one against the run last year. The players they had on the d-line, especially up the middle were stout. So why are they trying to overhaul the roster so quickly? Sometimes you have to use the talent you have until the ideal players are in place. This is one way to lose fan support. They are trying to rebuild the d by getting rid of decent players and replacing them with what will ultimately be rookies. Why do the Bucs always have to be the youngest team in the league?

How much better will the defense be with Revis if they can't stop the run or get to the QB?

Miller may not have been a fit, Bennett may have not been a fit, but somebody better fit because if we have to use draft picks to fill these holes it will at a year of experience to be able to use them. Off to a slow start, not like last year.

Taking a hit or housecleaning? I have yet to fully understand what the Bucs plan is for the defense, but I am fully aware that these changes are in line with what the Bucs want to happen. This is not happening because somebody is asleep at the wheel at One Buc. You can disagree with their moves or lack thereof, but after 1 year of experience with the defense, Schiano has his own ideas for what it should look like and Roy Miller was not asked to pose for the family portrait.

I'm not surprised or disappointed by this. If the Bucs really wanted Miller back they would have re-signed him before FA. The only reason Miller lasted this long is because Price didn't pan out. He was never a fit for Morris' defense or Schiano's. He was drafted for Bates' defense with the idea of pairing him up with Hayensworth and letting them eat up the interior O-linemen while the LB's penetrated and made plays. Now the D-linemen are the ones supposed to be penetrating and making plays while the LB's are just damage control. It's time we found what Price was supposed to be (and was when healthy), a havoc wreaking NT against the pass and run. Go Bucs!

I keep refreshing my screen in anticipation of the Bucs signing a new player but all I see on my refreshed screen is yet another starter from last year signing somewhere else! Now a trade for Revis is the only way to stop the hemorrhaging! He will cost the Bucs more draft pics = less new talent from the draft, and cost a boatload of money. I'm all for getting Revis, but I'm also getting impatient since little has been done to improve this team that is continuing to lose players.

serioulsy... everyone wanted to pay Miller starter money to be a liability on 1st down and taken out of the game on obvious passing downs. M. Bennet really wanted the Bucs to pay him 3-4M more than market just because or more than a part time player deserves because they want Bowers in the game... and now his feelings are hurt. I'm sure everyone on here just likes "giving" their money away so would the Bucs?

This is turning into a TERRIBLE off season, with the only good thing so far has been the signing of Goldson. Other than that, Dominik gets an F in my book.

Address in free agency? We've already let the best of those go by...this is depressing...the only thing worse that could happen is that we don't trade for Revis, don't sign Grimes, and Ronde decides to stay out of this...wait, that's not too far away now.

I was never a Roy Miller Fan reminded me alot of Curt Jarvis back in the day, while decent in run support he was a non factor in the sack catagory. We need to seriously address corner and D-Line in this draft.
