macabee: I totally agree with your comments. That has been a concern of mine and I asked PR about that previously. PR says there is no indication that FAs hesitate to come to Tampa, but I cannot fathom why the Bucs' FO has done so little in free agency unless the FO is sleeping at the switch and pining for Revis. I've stated that the Bucs could have picked up at least 4 (maybe 5) starters for what we would pay for Revis...and all that $ for just one CB like Revis won't get us to the play-offs alone. I hope I'm wrong, but I still don't get it.

Biggers leaving is not a loss. He's a second, third string CB and we already have a bunch of those. Ultimately, we need good CB's and pass rush. Right now we have neither. Sign other free agents and keep draft picks to build the defense. Not a fan of a Revis trade. Here's a question - Atlanta was at the threshold of the Super Bowl. They lose Brent Grimes. Theoretically Revis could represent the one last piece on defense that gets them over the hump. Might be cap space, but why aren't we seeing teams that are close to the championship going after Revis?

The only thing that upsets me about this report is that Biggers did not take Danny Gorrer and Myron Lewis with him.

Don't forget we still have Eric Wright. He was injured almost all of last year. When healthy he is a very good, much better than average corner back. So we only need 1 starting corner back.

I’m not worried about losing any one player. I’m more concerned about the perception of Tampa Bay to any potential FA and their willingness to play here. I have no proof that the Bucs are having problems retaining FAs or attracting other FAs to come to Tampa. By Mark Dominik’s own words there is a value allocation system in place to determine a players worth to the Bucs. Could that system and a player’s willingness to come to Tampa be at odds? In other words, given the perception of the environment at Tampa, will a player in demand only come to Tampa if he is overpaid? Is Tampa’s experience like Eric Wright the reason we now have a value system? Here is why I pose the questions: When FA opened on March 12 there were several CBs who were linked with the Bucs – two in particular, Sean Smith and Derek Cox. Your name gets publicized because during the pre-FA period some contact was made with an agent. There must have been some interest to contact an agent, yet when FA starts, no visits, no turndowns, no nothing! Rick Stroud says that Dominik laments the loss of Bennett and Miller. What does that mean? If they could get a do-over, would things be different? On March 16 Rotoworld reported that the Bucs were interested in Biggers, today he is signed with the Skins, a team with literally no cap space. I read that they were interested in Leon Washington and the next day he is signed with the Pats. IMO this is still a rebuilding year so Dominik should not give into the Jets just to get a CB. The 2014 is the year we make the leap to playoff team. A good F/A and Draft this year and the same next year and we are good to go.

Don't worry about the CB situation....rumor has it that the Bucs plan to implement a totally new defense called the 7 Safety Zone Blitz (or Tampa 7). Stay calm do not panic!

I would do this Trade down with Minn or Cinn. Get another 2 or 3rd Rd-Trade 1 of Tampa #4 or #6. Then Get the Best CB,DE,DT.LB.CB,QB not in that order. Yesss!! Good riddance!! Never liked him anyway. It seems like the tide is turning against us on this revis trade deal. Unless we intend to draft 2 corners back to back. Its just hard realizing that for about $10M/yr we could have had sean smith and some other corner. The deals were for a short number of years too. Dominick almost has to trade for revis now. Idk where I stand on the revis trade. Amazing talent, but he is coming off of an ACL injury (Not everyone is AP) and reports are that he was around $16M, that is very pricey to me. I rather build an overall better D than to just get one player and hope for a transformation. The Jets pass D was ranked #2 last year. As a side note we should sign elvis dumervil.

I will say that this is showing both maturity and testicular fortitude by Mark Dominick to stick to his guns. This offseason seems like they have a renewed sense of self scouting and coaching capability. With all the pressure he has on him it's so easy to act just to appease but Mark hasn't. This has Stokes finger prints!

We didn't lose Biggers, we chose not to resign him. He is no better than any of the remaining CB's on the team right now. I so disagree with Pewter Report about how critical the situation is with our CB's. We have and still have no pass rush! They both go hand and hand, but pass rush is a higher priority than CB in my opinion. Now back to the Revis situation; if he is still that good wouldn't the Jets actually keep him and make cap room for him elsewhere? No way should we trade a No1 or 2 draft pick on Revis; swap positions is fine with me, but don't give up valuable draft picks when many other things also need fixing.

With news breaking about the new Crown-of-helmet rule, I have great concerns that this actually affects our team directly. Doug Martin, one of the more diminutive, yet powerful, running backs in the league is more at risk of this rule because of his height and physical running style. I can recall from memory alone many instances where dougie lowered himself into his pads and dealt devastating blows to the opposition, often then shaking loose for a few extra yards. Specifically I remember two collisions (I believe with with falcons CB Dunta Robinson in each game) the play looked to have rattled the CB and I worried at the time about the risk of a concussion to Martin. Is anyone else concerned about this rule affecting our running game? I am all for safety in the game and cringe when I see hits that deliver or appear to deliver concussions to the players. But I find it difficult to envision how a back like Martin can still initiate contact with this rule. Moreover, I tend to agree with Emitt Smith who stated this rule exposes the back to having his head taken off. Any thoughts??

Mark, I don't believe Dominik had any plans to resign him. I am very disappointed in you and PR, Mark & Scott. You are getting yourself and others worked up, unnecessarily on the CB situation. We are only in week 2 of the offseason for crying out loud. Again, I point back to the last game of the season, when Coach Schaino took over coaching the Dbs. Atlanta only scored 17 points. 17! So 2 big changes have already happened in the secondary: A new Db coach and the signing of Goldson. Normally, Mark, I believe your reporting and analysis is spot on. But, here, I think you need to relax. It will all work out.

Agree to disagree LA, I'm not pushing a panic button quite yet, but the secondary was the worst in the NFL, 12 yards shy of an NFL record. And you really have 2 chances to address it. Free agency and the draft. One is done, unless you are looking for other teams scrap heap players. Then there is the draft where impact rookie corners are rare. I think we all agree there are holes on this team, but the most glaring need BY FAR was the secondary. Cooper being gone is a benefit, and yes the Falcons game was encouraging. but make no mistake, the Falcons were not playing that game at 110% effort level. Sure their starters were in there, but the intensity was lacking. Im not going to accept one game, the 16th of the season and base my expectations for 2013 on that game. But if you do gauge that game as a barometer, then you have to think losing Biggers will hurt the team as he was on the field that game. Appreciate the feedback even if we don't agree!

I like EJ, but he wasn't the answer to the secondary. He started for most of last years NFL's worst secondary. I feel that the Bucs feel that they can upgrade through the free agency and draft. I think that they are being patient because the Free agency is still loaded with CB. With how free agency is going the asking price is going to start dropping for some of these players. Dom must of learned his lesson from last year when he over paid for Eric wright.

Oh and MC I love the title. The way it reads it's like we just added to the Redskins CB woes!

Biggers is gone! Wooo Hooo! He's the Redskins' problem now. That's addition by subtraction for us. I said if Dominik re-signed Biggers I wanted him fired so I'm still on the Dominik bandwagon it seems.

Good riddance! Don't let the door hit your poor excuse for a cornerback *censored* as you reunite with Rah. One of the worst tacklers ever seen play defense and not much better covering anyone. Maybe this will push the Bucs to pursue some other corners now in FA and in the draft and not Reavis. I would rather see Gaitor, Gorrer or Johnson back there than what he has shown the last few years.
