Buccaneers backup safety Cody Grimm was arrested over the weekend in Virginia for public intoxication according to the Washington Post. The article also revealed this was Grimm's second arrest this year.
Buccaneers reserve safety Cody Grimm most likely was already facing an uphill battle to make the 53-man roster again this year, and the battle may have even gotten tougher.

According to a report in the Washington Post, Grimm was arrested for public intoxication on Sunday in Virginia. Grimm was reportedly in town for a wedding the story said, and the arrest happened at a Hampton Inn at 5:30 a.m. The Post said that court records show that Grimm has a hearing scheduled for July 9.

In the article head coach Greg Schiano said he was “disappointed” then had this to say regarding Grimm’s arrest in a statement.

“Our players know our expectations on and off the field and we take these matters very seriously,” Schiano said. “When we feel we have obtained all the necessary information, we will act accordingly.”

The charge is a misdemeanor but according to the Washington Post, this was Grimm’s second such arrest, as Grimm was charged with the same offense back on March 10 in Christiansburg, Va. That case was given a “deferred disposition,” which allows prosecutors to drop a charge if assuming the accused fulfills certain promises and stays out of trouble.

J.G., I doubt the wedding ended at 3:30 in the morning, that would be a couple of hours. I'm 58, and believe me I've downed a few, but have never been arrested for being a drunken A hole once let alone twice. The kid has a problem being popped for the same thing twice.

Twice for the same thing ? And both times In VA. I say trade him to the skins. He clearly likes getting bombed out of town .This franchise has to get serious about players with substance issues. If they were willing to trade Talib, who was a serious talent I don't see how this guy sticks around.

J.G., I'm sure the wedding was well over by 5:30 A.M..

Surferdudes being drunk doesn't wear off in a couple of hrs, of course you don't know this cause you would never get drunk or have been in your life, lol

A young man gets drunk at a wedding, yeah that never happens!, lol What next a young man gets drunk in Vegas?, Lets not be to judgemental people.

I thought drafting team captains was supposed to eliminate character risks. Oh well, another one bites the dust.

I will remember Grimm for the pick in Cincinnati a few years ago to seal the comeback but im afraid his days are probably over as a Buc. Schiano and crew have sent far more talented players packing, it's no need to risk the foundation on an injury prone special teamer. Good Luck kid it just wont be here. Go Bucs!

Well, whatever chance he had he just blew it. There's too much competition to do things like this anymore. I am sure Raheem will take him once the Bucs release him.

I don’t know what has happened in Grimm’s past, but this sounds out of character for him. This could be a developing personal crisis because of its frequency. Whatever it is, I hope he gets it together. Grimm was a long shot to make this team before this odd turn of events, given the changes made to the secondary and his personal injury history. I doubt that this is the tipping point. His performance on the field or lack thereof will determine his fate, though this can't help. I like Grimm and personally feel bad for him given what is occurring. Whatever his status with the Bucs, I hope he gets help!

Ive been drunk in public a thousand times and never been arrested.Whats this young man doing asking the police to take him in.He cant handle his liquer time to quit drinking.

He was on my "Hot Seat" list. Guess the heat just got turned up a bit. Weddings..........just another excuse to get drunk.

Disappointing. He played pretty well when he had a chance to start a couple years ago. He was a solid backup and will probably be cut. I guess that leaves the backup SS position up for Kieth Tandy?
