ProFootballTalk.com released their version of the Top 100 players in the NFL and the Buccaneers managed to have five players make the list, the same amount as the NFL Network's list earlier this offseason. Which five were on the list?
While there is no exact science to it, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earned some national respect Monday in the ProFootballTalk.com poll of the Top 100 players in the NFL.
Early this summer, PFT polled a panel of NFL media types and asked them to help compile a list of the Top 100 players in the NFL, and five Buccaneers players were selected.
The highest rated Bucs player was cornerback Darelle Revis who checked in at No. 10. Revis was followed by defensive tackle Gerald McCoy at No. 57, wide receiver Vincent Jackson at No. 60, running back Doug Martin at No. 77 and guard Carl Nicks who was ranked No. 79.
Safety Dashon Goldson was surprisingly left off the list despite representing the NFC in the previous two Pro Bowls in Hawaii.
Earlier this summer the NFL Network put out a similar list which also included five Buccaneer players. Jackson was the highest rated on the NFL Network’s list coming in at No. 52, followed by Martin (57), Revis (67), McCoy (92) and Goldson (96).
Nicks failed to make the list.
While the five players on the list are quite an accomplishment, Bucs fans, coaches and the players themselves only care if it translates into wins on the football field.
Will that happen? Only time will tell, and that time is quickly approaching with veterans reporting for training camp on Wednesday and the first practice slated for Thursday morning at 8:45 a.m. and is open to the public.
