PewterReport.com has announced that Gil Arcia has joined the staff as a Bucs beat writer. Arcia, who founded the popular Tampa Bay area sports website The Bay Cave, has been a long-time PewterReport.com visitor and is excited about covering the Buccaneers.
PewterReport.com has added Gil Arcia to its staff as the long-time media entity’s Buccaneers beat writer. Arcia, who founded TheBayCave.com website as part of the Yardbarker network on FoxSports.com, is leaving that website and joining PewterReport.com to cover the Buccaneers during training camp and the 2013 regular season.

“We are thrilled to announce that Gil Arcia has joined our PewterReport.com staff,” said PewterReport.com publisher Scott Reynolds. “Gil interned with us during the offseason and proved himself by assisting in our coverage of the Bucs OTAs (organized team activities) and mini-camp. He has a passion for Buccaneers football, and his insights, knowledge and his way of thinking about the team is in line with ours at PewterReport.com. We believe he’s a great fit.”

Arcia, a longtime reader of PewterReport.com, is excited to become a Pewter Reporter and cover the football team he has followed for years.

“I used to grab the Pewter Report magazines, including the days when it was called Buccaneer Magazine,” Arcia said. “To say that I am excited about being a part of something I have always looked at as a top source for a team I grew up following is an understatement. I am truly blessed and humbled with the opportunity.

“Being born and raised in Tampa, I know how important the Bucs are to so many fans. I want to let them know that I understand their passion. I will interact with them and tailor my writing towards the type of Bucs information they are looking for. They are the ones that I feed off of, and Pewter Report's readers are the most passionate Bucs fans around.”

Beginning with training camp, Arcia’s duties will be to assist Reynolds and editor-in-chief Mark Cook by regularly covering the Buccaneers during the week with feature stories and columns. Additionally, Arcia will cover Tampa Bay’s games during the preseason and regular season, and provide regular updates on Pewter Report’s Twitter feed @PewterReport.

“One of the things that our Bucs fans will enjoy is Gil’s frequent updates on our Pewter Report Twitter feed,” Reynolds said. “Whether it is fan interaction, posting interesting links or chiming in with his informed opinion, Gil will be a major factor for Pewter Report on Twitter.”

Reynolds said that Arcia’s background as an avid reader of Pewter Report magazine and PewterReport.com played a huge role in his garnering the job as Pewter Report’s newest Bucs Beat Writer.

“At PewterReport.com we have a proven formula that works when we apply it,” Reynolds said. “Throughout my 18 years with the company, the best Bucs beat writers we’ve had – Jim Flynn, Charlie Campbell and Mark Cook – were all avid PewterReport.com visitors and subscribers first before we hired them. Gil fits the mold of what we’re looking for in a Pewter Reporter in terms of his football knowledge, his insight, his curiosity and the ability to seek unique, inside information on the Buccaneers.”

Arcia has set high expectations for himself as he joins the high-traffic PewterReport.com website, that reaches over half a million unique visitors per year.

“My commitment to excellence is something I pride myself on in any endeavor I take on,” Arcia said. “I want my writing to not only be informative but also be understood on anyone's level. I expect to give the most detailed information to not just allow myself to grow, but help PewterReport.com continue to grow as well.”

Welcome aboard GA! Although I must say that's a mighty close up picture of you. Based on the close proximity and the high angle shot from above of someone dressed all in white I thought somebody had just died. Glad to read it's good news instead. Go Bucs!
