Former third-rounder Myron Lewis had had a disappointing three seasons in Tampa Bay, and on Thursday the Bucs decided to part ways with the former Vandy cornerback.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Thursday they have waived CB Myron Lewis and LB Marvin Booker (injured). The team also signed CB Mason Robinson.

Lewis, a third-round selection (67th overall) by the Buccaneers, played in 29 games with one start, totaling 17 tackles and four passes defensed.

Lewis played collegiately at Vanderbilt University, totaling 170 tackles, 26 passes defensed, 10.5 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumbles recoveries and 10 interceptions for 71 yards. He earned second-team All-SEC recognition as a sophomore.

Lewis has struggled since joining the Buccaneers in 2010 after being selected in the third round. The former Vandy star has had injury issues, but even when healthy, was unable crack the starting lineup, even in 2012 when the Buccaneers had the worst secondary in the NFL (297 yards per game surrendered).

Robinson returns to Tampa Bay, having previously spent time with the team earlier during training camp. A Rutgers graduate, Robinson played on offense while with the Scarlet Knights, totaling 512 yards from scrimmage. He also worked as a punt and kick returner, returning 22 kicks for 444 yards and 28 punts for 187 yards with one touchdown.

FINALLY and too long overdue. Lewis was dead wood. Good riddance and at least we got a decent punt returner from Rutgers to replace him and he is a DB too. Awesome.

Why does this feel more like mercifully putting Mr. Lewis out of his misery more than cutting him. This guy just needs a different line of work. Go find your passion, young man, because clearly, football ain't it.
