The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today that they have signed guard Patrick Omameh from the San Francisco 49ers practice squad.

Omameh (6-4, 305), is a rookie who signed with San Francisco as a college free agent this past offseason. A native of Columbus, Ohio, Omameh played collegiately at Michigan, starting 41-of-45 games for the Wolverines, including every game his final three years. Omameh earned All-Big Ten honors in 2012. He will wear No. 66.

The move adds depth to a position that has seen injuries Carl Nicks and Gabe Carimi.

That signals more about Nicks' and Carimi's injuries or availability, especially since signing off of another team's practice squad has to go the 53.
