Tampa Bay's third starting running back in 10 games, Bobby Rainey, earned NFC Offensive Player Of The Week honors after his 163 yard, three touchdown performance on Sunday against the Falcons.

The National Football League announced today that Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Bobby Rainey was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for Week 11.
Going against the Atlanta Falcons, Rainey rushed 30 times for 163 yards and two touchdowns, while also adding a receiving touchdown. He is the first player in Buccaneers history to record two rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown in the same game. His 163 rushing yards are the ninth-most in Tampa Bay history, and the third-most by an NFL player in a game this season.
Playing in only his 10th career game, Rainey became the first player since RB Edgerrin James to record at least 150 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns and a receiving touchdown in a single game in a player’s first 10 career games.
Rainey is the first Buccaneer to win the award since Doug Martin in 2012 (Week 9), and only the fifth running back in team history to win the award. Rainey also becomes the first ever player from Western Kentucky to win a Player of the Week award.

Rainey took over for rookie Mike James who was the starter due to an injury to Pro Bowl running back Doug Martin earlier in the season.

Rainey talked to the media on Monday about the whirlwind over the last two weeks.

“It’s been crazy,” Rainey said. “A lot has been going on as far as [the birth of] my child and moving, not being on the team, getting on the team, moving my furniture from one city to the next. And then learning a new playbook, so it’s a lot that has been going on.

“All my life, all my life. I just use it as motivation. It just motivates me to make everybody know who I am, and that’s as far as coming into work every day, knowing the playbook and doing my job.”
