With Jonathan Casillas done for the season with a knee injury suffered last Sunday at Carolina, the Bucs had an open roster spot and filled with with Danny Lansanah, a practice squad player from the Jets.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Monday that they have signed linebacker Danny Lansanah from the New York Jets’ practice squad.

Lansanah (6-1, 255) entered the league as a college free agent with Green Bay in 2008. He played in five games with the Packers as a rookie, recording two special teams tackles. He has been with the Jets for the first 13 weeks of this season. Lansanah will wear No. 51 for the Buccaneers.

A native of Harrisburg, Pa., Lansanah played collegiately at the University of Connecticut, starting 34-of-45 games, totaling 323 tackles, with 35 for loss, and 10 interceptions. He was named first-team All-Big East following his senior season.

The team also announced today that linebacker Jonathan Casillas has been placed on Injured Reserve. This season, Casillas has played in all 12 games, starting four, totaling 25 tackles, two passes defensed and a forced fumble. He leads the Buccaneers with nine special teams tackles.

I'm sure not going to pay any attention to a player who has been on and off rosters for five years. I agree, this is probably some guy Schiano tried to recruit or with whom he is familiar from his previous stint at Rutgers..... otherwise known as the Buccaneers farm team.

Fellas, you might wanna read up on Daniel Delray Lansanah's career history before we get excited about a player Schiano probably remembers from his Big East days. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_Lansanah

@macabee...all I needed to read was Big East, undrafted...another Schiano-ite. Why can't we sign SEC (or Miami, or Pac 12) players when we're fishing for projects....wouldn't the odds of success be higher if by luck alone.

Please fire Schiano. If they keep him and he drafts, we will be ruined for years to come. Come on Glazers, give us something to hope for!

Even though it looks like Lansanah will be used primarily for special teams, the Jets front 7 guys have been well trained and are always welcome here. Just keep those dang Giants players away from One Buc.
