To bolster the team's depth at defensive tackle and give the Bucs a starting nose tackle, Tampa Bay has signed Seattle defensive tackle Clinton McDonald to a four-year, $12 million deal. McDonald had 5.5 sacks for the Super Bowl champions Seahawks last year.
The upgrade to the Bucs pass rush got another shot in the arm when free agency opened at 4 p.m. on Tuesday with the announcement that Tampa Bay has reached an agreement with former Seahawks defensive tackle Clinton McDonald on a reported 4-yr, $12 million deal.

Tampa Bay agreed to terms with Bengals defensive end Michael Johnson earlier in the day.

McDonald, who played his college football at Memphis, was a seventh-round draft pick by the Cincinnati Bengals in 2009, and was traded to the Seattle Seahawks in 2011. The 6-2, 297-pound defensive tackle was part of a rotational defensive line for the Seahawks, and posted 38 tackles in his first two seasons in Seattle.

The former Bengal esily had his best season last year for the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, posting 35 tackles, 5.5 sacks, two pass breakups and one interception.

Reports from Seattle said that McDonald is quick penetrating three-technique that can also be used at nose guard. ESPN.com Seahawks beat writer Terry Blount said McDonald may have been Seattle' most underrated player in 2013.

Welcome to the Bucs McDonald! Can't wait to watch you dominate!

bucsfan524 - Khalil Mack will not be a Buc. We signed Cassillas, have Foster and David. That's the starting LB's and when in nickel Leonard Johnson will come in for Casillas. The D Line is looking nice and deep... DE's Johnson, CLayborn, Gholston, Bowers and DT's McCoy, McDonald, and Spence.

I like this pick the most as McDonald played pretty well for Seattle last yr as i have seen alot of their games

I love it! Keep it up Licht! Sounds like the perfect NT for the Tampa 2. Anywhere from 4 to 6 sacks a year is exactly what I'm looking for from that position. He's also the right size at 300 lb. The only downside is that this means we won't be drafting A. Donald in the draft, which is what I thought our darkhorse pick would be. This is what smart GM's do though: Fill your holes in FA and pick the best player available in the draft. After the signing of Johnson and McDonald I'm thinking we're going offense in the draft. Either QB, OT or WR. Go Bucs!

I would think Offense with the seventh pick also, but the Bucs may have a defensive player ranked higher " Khalil Mack" and if they go for the highest rated player available it could be interesting.
