The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Tuesday evening the signing of long snapper Jeremy Cain.

Tampa Bay’s full time long snapper since 2007, Andrew Economos, is a free agent and it appears the Buccaneers will not re-sign the former Georgia Tech product. Economos successfully battled back from an Achilles tear suffered during offseason workouts back in 2011 during the NFL lockout.
Cain (6-1, 245) comes to Tampa Bay after playing for the Chicago Bears during the 2013 season.  In his eight-year career, Cain has appeared in 83 games, playing for Chicago (2004-2005, 2013), Tennessee (2007) and Jacksonville (2009-2012), compiling 21 tackles.
A native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Cain played linebacker at the University of Massachusetts, where he was a three-year starter, a two-time All-American (2002, 2003) and finished his career with 363 tackles.

I liked Economos He mad a lot of tackles and always seamed to be around the ball . No pun intended

Horse: I suspect Economos not being retained has something to do with compensation. As I recall, his salary was at the upper end of the long snapper fraternity pay scale. I've never understood how that duty requires a specialist who does little else.

I have talked to Economos a couple times at a golfing event that Clearwater Free Clinic puts on as one of their yearly charity events and he is a nice guy and is in great shape always. I think it is about the money because I believe he is paid in the high $7000,000's. I agree with you Scubog, I don't know why that position has been established the way it is right now. I always thought that you could get the back up and starting Center to do that task.

Economos is a FA, so you guys are freaking out over nothing. Mayne Economos doesnt want to be here, or maybe he is asking for more than we are willing to pay? Do any of you know which of the two players is better anyways? Or are we complaining for the sake of complaining?

Horse....Maybe it's to get the stink of a 4-12 team out of the building !

Kinderrt; Just because something stinks around you doesn't mean that it's everything that stinks around you; you could just have poop on your shoes. All I am saying is that I don't see an improvement, but they are the ones looking at the tape so I have to trust them. I sure hope this doesn't become like the Rutgers thing, but now it's a Bears thing.

It's hard not letting great relationships not interfere with good judgment. I feel like this move was due a good relationship with another ex-bear and not as much to do with improving the team. I'm not saying that this is the case here, but you start to wonder. Economos was not the reason for a 4-12 record, that's for sure.

I'm with you on this one. It makes zero since to me. Economos played well and I don't see how Cain is an upgrade. Pointless move that does nothing to benefit the team unless there is something I don't know.

I am not sure if this was required? He's shorter, older, and I don't see the reason because Economos played okay. I could see this if it was a big up grade, but I don't. Somebody help me on this one . Where's scubog.
