The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Tuesday evening the signing of long snapper Jeremy Cain.
Tampa Bay’s full time long snapper since 2007, Andrew Economos, is a free agent and it appears the Buccaneers will not re-sign the former Georgia Tech product. Economos successfully battled back from an Achilles tear suffered during offseason workouts back in 2011 during the NFL lockout.
Cain (6-1, 245) comes to Tampa Bay after playing for the Chicago Bears during the 2013 season. In his eight-year career, Cain has appeared in 83 games, playing for Chicago (2004-2005, 2013), Tennessee (2007) and Jacksonville (2009-2012), compiling 21 tackles.
A native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Cain played linebacker at the University of Massachusetts, where he was a three-year starter, a two-time All-American (2002, 2003) and finished his career with 363 tackles.
