Trouble keeps finding beleaguered Buccaneers WR Mike Williams, who was stabbed in the thigh by his brother, according to a report by WTSP. The stabbing occurred at Williams' home and he is being treated at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, Fla.
According to reports, Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Williams has been taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital after being stabbed by his brother, who is being sought by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office for questioning.

Few details have emerged in the story that was first broken by WTSP Channel 10 on Sunday evening.

The Buccaneers released a statement on Sunday, shortly after in the incident was reported.

"We are aware of the situation that occurred at the residence of Mike Williams and are working with him and the authorities to get additional information. While we have limited knowledge at this time, our primary concern is for the safety and well being of all involved. We will refrain from further comment until we can get a better understanding of the situation."

Williams' name has been in the headlines a number of times over the last couple months, enough to draw the ire of head coach Lovie Smith and general manager Jason Licht.

Smith commented on Williams' troubles back in February at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.

"There's a pattern here and it's disturbing. No one is bigger than this football team," Smith said in February. "He has to understand that. Have I been disappointed in Mike Williams? Of course.

“There's a standard. We're just not going to put up with it, no matter who it is.You have to be good on the field and off the field. Simple as that. And if you're not doing what you need to do one or the other, you have problems and that's where Mike has to take care of a few things."

On January 30, PewterReport.com wrote an article detailing the former regime’s issues with Williams that included being fined for missing or being late to meetings and rehab assignments, and there was serious discussion about possibly releasing Williams before the 2014 season by the previous regime.

Also this year, a misdemeanor property damage claim was filed in Hillsborough County claiming Williams did damage to a door in some type of altercation. That case is still pending.

In February, the Tampa Bay Times exposed more negative news for Williams, revealing his weekend parties at a home he was renting were upsetting to neighbors and Williams also has to pay $43,000 in damages to the rental home.
It was also revealed at least five 911 calls were made during the time of Williams lease.

PewterReport.com will update this story as we gather new details.

Maybe it's too soon, BUT Mike Willams reminds me of the Patriot way. You trade back, take a guy with questionable history, and believe your locker room can mold him. Soap Box: "It takes a village to raise a child." NO, It Doesn't. It takes a parent. 1 is good, 2 is better. So, NO coach, NO player. And, we haven't had a coach in Tampa in a while.

    Don't stab me, Bro!

This kid was troubled coming out of college. Dominick took a chance on him in the 4th round, good risk reward. Where he screwed up was giving him a big contract when he new these problems were prresent. Dom, and Greg talked about character, but I guess it was only talk. I wonder if his injury last year wasn't more a result of his hard partying, and lack of training.

At this point, he clearly needs help. Who knows what the situation is behind this. And I hope he recovers and realizes how easily everything can be taken away from him. I don't get it. A guy gets stabbed and now he needs to be cut? If this was Jim Irsay... anyone else can fill in the blanks.

I wish I lived in Avila Horse. Maybe not on Mike's street; but that's one nice subdivision. Maybe next to Tony Dungy. Probably nice and quiet.

As sad as it is I wouldn't be surprised if Williams is broke and a thug in 4 years.

    He is already broke.

I have gone from an opinion to just the facts. We got what we could from Williams and he continues to make poor choices; his brother didn't stab him for the heck of IT. What ever happened, Williams has to ask why did this happen. I believe the hand writing is on the wall. There are lots of WR's in the draft and after the draft. Enough is enough. I am glad I don't live in Williams neighborhood; they have got to have had it with this fine outstanding example of a neighbor.

What is with this guy? Looks like he can't even trust his brother. I guess you can't blame Mike ( I hope ) but I think it's time to move on. The NFL should look into not guaranteeing these contracts and add an escape clause so a teams can get out of paying any money to players that have problems with the law. The NFL should make that mandatory just like drug tests. We could call it the three strike law.

Maybe with all the cap room from cutting the OL we can now bring in Mr. Jackson. Exchange one punk for a better, faster punk:)

I wish Mike a speedy recovery and hopefully this incident will have no effect on his ability to physically play football. I say this with a selfish interest, because I want Lovie and Licht to get this guy in fine fit anf fiddle, ready to trade for whatever the market will bear. I look at this purely from an investment perspective without passing judgment on William's private life. He is a good possession WR that cannot separate or stretch the field. WR is the deepest position in this draft and we should look forward to improving the performance of our team without regard to Williams private life. Get well soon Mike and get busy Licht finding Mike a new home!
