Bucs season ticket holders got to get a glimpse of the new uniforms on Friday night at Raymond James Stadium with Doug Martin, Gerald McCoy and Alterraun Verner modeling the new look in front of an enthusiastic crowd.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers organization have had some shots fired at them after revealing photos of their new uniforms last month. Many complaints were directed the font of the numbers on the jersey and even the dark color of the pewter. Bucs co-chairman Ed Glazer, who spearheaded the two-year re-design, along with Nike, said that fans would like the uniforms when they finally saw them in person.

On Friday evening Tampa Bay hosted a preview of the new uniforms seen on players at Raymond James Stadium for season pass members. After seeing the uniforms for the first time live, the general reviews were mostly positive.

The event was a lavish affair with free drinks and food and had the feeling of a runway fashion show with running back Doug Martin, defensive tackle Gerald McCoy and cornerback Alterraun Verner modeling the new-look uniforms for an enthusiastic crowd of Bucs fans.

Chants of Lovie, Lovie lasted for several seconds when the new Buccaneers coach was announced and introduced and long time play-by-play announcer Gene Deckerhoff was the master of ceremonies for the event.

PewterReport.com has a gallery on our Facebook page from our director of photography Cliff Welch who was in attendance on Friday night. To see the photos click here.

I thought we had the best looking uniforms in the NFL, until now. Now were near the bottom. Again! :(

The last "pewter" pants were bronze looking and now these are brown looking? What the hell? I guess I'm old school, as the helmet i like but the rest, especially the numbers and the non-pewter pants.....not so much. I won't be buying one. Why can't the pants match the helmet, is that so hard?

Perhaps the uniforms may grow on me, but the numbers and the logo will not. I hate the new logo. Looks like a damn cartoon. Their was something much more authentic about the old Jolly Rodgers logo.

I cant stand the numbers and don't think I will ever like the numbers. I cant ever seeing myself wearing any shirts with numbers. And that SUCKS!!!!

My wife and adult daughter went to the event. I was shocked at how many were in attendance. Must have been the free food and beer. Say what people will about the Glazer boys, but we fans should stop the "cheap" tag after they sprung for this gala. There is definitely an increased sense of excitement and anticipation of the season ahead that was never felt during the Schiano reign. I must admit switching from the Bucco Bruce uniforms to the pewter and red was much more of a "wow" moment for me than the unexpected "updating" to this more modern look. Love the helmet but the pewter color on the uniforms looks sort of brownish to me. I don't care for the numbers. I suspect, as it was when some fans were reluctant to put Bruce back in the closet, (he came out much sooner than that Michael Sam guy) that eventually we will all (even Bucco40) relent and start wearing the new gear. I do think fans will take much longer this time as I think we all like the original red and pewter just fine. A few wins will do a lot to encourage the transition but it will be a much slower process this time.

the 24ish numbers and the Pewter Shoulder/Sleeves need to change before I'll even consider buying a new Jersey.

Was there last night and have to give some kudos to the Bucs for doing it right. Free food and beverages and Deckerhoff in fine form made for an entertaining evening. The new unis are growing on the fans except for a couple of things. That pewter is a dark brown, almost black and is not pewter. Still the worst thing about the unis is that '70's alarm clock look. Ed Glazer said they made the change for the fans. If that's true, why weren't the fans consulted? A very embarrassing moment came when Gene asked Dougie about his input into the unis and he said the players didn't have any input. In fact, some of the players hadn't even seen them until a couple of weeks ago. Ed Glazer wasn't booed but he only received a smattering of polite applause. On the other hand, thunderous applause and chants of "Lovie, Lovie" welcome the new coach back to Tampa. There hasn't been this much excitement around the Bucs in many years and it's all around Lovie, not the unis.

I was there last night....I really like the jerseys and bought one of each, but the red on the white pants....that I did not like. Just looks weird. Go Bucs!!!

I like the new Unis, but I'm still not sold on the numbers. Maybe if they took the little white diagonal lines out of the numbers, I could get used to them. You see the look on Verner's face staring at McCoy. "Daaamn! I'm glad he's on my team!". Go Bucs.
