The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today the signings of wide receiver Lavelle Hawkins and safety Major Wright.

Wright (5-11, 204) comes to Tampa Bay after spending his first four seasons in Chicago (2010-13), where he started 42-of-54 career games, totaling 253 tackles, 18 passes defensed, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and nine interceptions, with three returned for touchdowns. He has also played in two postseason games, recording seven tackles and one pass defensed. Wright originally entered the league as a third-round pick (75th overall) of the Chicago Bears in the 2010 NFL Draft.

In 2013, Wright set a career high with 100 tackles, which ranked second on the club. In 2012, he recorded a career-best four interceptions, also ranking second on the team. Wright is the only player in the NFL with at least one interception returned for a touchdown in each of the last three seasons.

A native of Miramar, Florida, Wright starred at St. Thomas Aquinas High School before going on to play at the University of Florida. While with the Gators, Wright played in 41 games, with 33 starts, collecting 165 tackles, 10 passes defensed, eight interceptions, four forced fumbles and one fumble recovery, as well a blocked field goal recovery. Wright helped lead Florida to a BCS National Championship in 2008.

Hawkins (5-11, 194) originally entered the league as a fourth-round pick (126th overall) of the Tennessee Titans in the 2008 NFL Draft and spent five seasons there (2008-2012) before signing with San Diego in 2013. In his career, Hawkins has played in 56 games with four starts, recording 71 receptions for 771 yards and one touchdown. Hawkins has also returned 14 kickoffs for 335 yards.

A native of Stockton, California, Hawkins played college football at the University of California under current Buccaneers offensive coordinator Jeff Tedford, playing in 35 games with 11 starts, tallying 136 receptions for 1,748 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also returned 49 kickoffs for 1,051 yards and one touchdown.

The team also announced they have waived linebacker Marvin Booker.
