TMZ Sports posted a video Friday showing Buccaneers rookie WR Mike Evans brawling outside a nightclub stating the fight happened last Saturday. Late Friday evening both Evans and head coach Lovie Smith comment on the story.
This probably isn't what the Tampa Bay Buccaneers want to deal with before a game day.

According to a video posted by TMZ Sports, Bucs rookie WR Mike Evans is shown brawling outside a Miami nightclub. The website states that the incident occurred Saturday night at Dream Nightclub, however the date and location of the video are being disputed. For one, Dream Nightclub is a popular South Beach destination in Miami. Tampa Bay did play its second preseason game of the season Saturday night against Miami – in Tampa.

As reported by the Tampa Bay Times, Evans' agent, Deryk Gilmore, said the incident happened in March in South Beach and that no arrests were made. Gilmore also confirmed to PewterReport.com the incident happened in March.

STATEMENT FROM MIKE EVANS
“The incident in question happened during spring break in March while I was vacationing with friends in Miami. The issue occurred at the end of the night when someone in my party was approached by a member of the security staff. The situation escalated  very quickly from there, but fortunately no one was injured. I regret that this incident that happened nearly six months ago has become a distraction to my team and I look forward to continuing to prepare for the start of my rookie season with the Buccaneers.”

STATEMENT FROM HEAD COACH LOVIE SMITH
“During his time here since we drafted him in May, Mike has met all of our expectations both on and off the football field. After speaking with Mike, our feelings about him remain unchanged. We expect him to be an important member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for many years to come and we consider this matter closed.”

Watched a game last year where Evans temper got the better of him. He was flagged, came out of the game, and it took half the team to calm him down. Can't do that in the NFL where the line between winning, or losing is so thin. So yeah it's an issue when your emotions, and temper can cost you on, and off the field. Needs to get his temper in check.

I agree, non story. Sounds like something I did when I was that age, but not quite as skilled as hopping over the car; I would more than likely have fallen on the car or thrown up on the car.

I remember during one of SR's crusades against Mike Williams he wrote how Evans was such a model Christian, and his character was so morally superior to Williams. I have no problem with the "skirmish" Evans was involved in, but will never forget how Williams was "judged" by SR and Pewter Report.

Just terrific. Another 1st round knucklehead for the Bucs. Enjoy your new status with Keith McKants, Eric Curry, Mike Clayton, and (everyone's favorite) Aqib Talib. I'm not sure if i hope the Buc's brass knew about this or that they didn't. Either way, just another head shaker.

Do you monitor your forums? Some guy named Bschucher just posted "You might be one of the biggest fvcktards this site has ever seen." on your forum toward another poster discussing this Mike Evans issue. I don't think this is appropriate for young posters. Would you mind enforcing your TOS?
