Bucs Trade DE Adams To Bears For 2nd Round Pick
The Buccaneers have given up on defensive end Gaines Adams, the team's first-round draft pick in 2007. On Friday night, Tampa Bay traded Adams to Chicago for a second-round draft pick. Adams came under heavy scrutiny for his lack of production. He had 13.5 sacks in three seasons as a Buccaneer.
Dominik Explains Decision To Trade Adams
Tampa Bay general manager Mark Dominik made himself available to the media at Raymond James Stadium just before the Bucs' game vs. the Carolina Panthers kicked off Sunday. Dominik explained the team's decision to trade DE Gaines Adams to Chicago for a 2010 second-round pick.
Bucs Brace For Challenges London, Patriots Bring
The 0-6 Tampa Bay Buccaneers are attempting to put their 28-21 loss to Carolina behind them in an effort to prepare for their next challenge - the 4-2 New England Patriots, who beat Tennessee on Sunday, 59-0. Although the game will be played in London, the Bucs are treating the contest as a business trip.
Smith's Condition Not Yet Known
Buccaneers head coach Raheem Morris did not have an update regarding the status of RB Clifton Smith. The NFL suspended Panthers CB Dante Wesley one game without pay for his hit on Smith. Morris and the Bucs talked about the porous run defense, and how DT Dre Moore might be active this week.
Askew's Season Over
Buccaneers FB B.J. Askew's season came to an end Tuesday when the team placed him on the reserve/non-football injury (NFI) list. Askew, who sustained a back/neck injury in a car accident last week, will be replaced by RB Earnest Graham. In addition, the Bucs signed CB Marcus McCauley.

Stroughter Shrugs Off Winning NFC Special Teams POW Award
Rookie WR Sammie Stroughter wasn't too thrilled about winning the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week award on Wednesday because while his 97-yard kickoff return for a TD helped rally Tampa Bay, the Bucs still fell to Carolina, 28-21, and are winless on the season.
