Mahan Restructures Contract
Tampa Bay Buccaneers backup offensive lineman Sean Mahan restructured his contract for the 2009 season. Mahan was scheduled to make $3 million in base salary, but is now slated to make $1.6 million next season. Mahan originally signed the five-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers before the 2007 season.

Bucs Not Big Spenders Over Past Five Years
The Buccaneers were the league's lowest spenders in terms of player payroll over the past five seasons (2004-08), according to a recent article published on NFL.com. The Bucs spent $449 million in payroll during that time period. The biggest spender - the Dallas Cowboys - invested $566 million in player payroll.
   
Bucs Announce 2009 Training Camp Schedule
The Bucs announced their 2009 training camp schedule Thursday. All but one of the team's training camp practices will be held at One Buc Place in Tampa. The Bucs report to camp on July 31 and will hold a morning practice at One Buc followed by a night workout at Raymond James Stadium on Aug. 1.

Bucs Release Griese
The Buccaneers released quarterback Brian Griese Monday. Griese, 34, spent a total of three seasons with Tampa Bay. The former third-round draft pick helped the Bucs win the NFC South division title in 2005. Tampa Bay will take four quarterbacks to training camp.

Bucs Have Until Wednesday To Sign Bryant To Long-Term Deal
The Buccaneers have until Wednesday to sign franchised player Antonio Bryant to a long-term contract. Should a new deal for Bryant not be in place by the July 15 deadline, Bryant will play the 2009 season under the one-year tender he has already signed, which is worth $9.884 million.

Bucs WR Antonio Bryant will play under the franchise tag in 2009. That became official at 4:00 p.m. ET Wednesday, which was the mandated deadline for NFL teams to sign franchised players to long-term contracts. Bucs Were Interested In DE Jarmon
Tampa Bay was interested in Kentucky defensive end Jeremy Jarmon in the 2009 Supplemental Draft. Jarmon went to the Washington Redskins, who gave up a 2010 third-round pick to land the talented defensive end. Had he fallen to the fourth round Jarmon might have become a Buccaneer.
