Bucs-Dolphins Preview

Bucs Part Ways With 4 Players
UPDATED: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers got a head start on their first round of roster cuts Saturday, releasing DE Jarriett Buie, DB DeAngelo Willingham and G Julius Wilson. In addition, Tampa Bay waived injured WR Kelly Campbell. The Bucs must release one more player by Sept. 1 in order to trim their roster to 75.
Cadillac To Start Thursday Night
Not only will he make his 2009 debut for the Buccaneers on Thursday night, running back Carnell "Cadillac" Williams, who has sustained two serious knee injuries in as many seasons, will also start the contest and see significant action vs. the Miami Dolphins.
Phillips To Start Season At Safety
Buccaneers head coach Raheem Morris said Tuesday that veteran Jermaine Phillips has been moved back to safety from linebacker. Geno Hayes replaces Phillips as the leader to be the starter at Will linebacker. The Bucs moved Phillips for depth purposes with starting S Tanard Jackson suspended for four games.

Jermaine Phillips isn't disappointed by the Bucs' decision to move him from linebacker to safety. Instead, he says he's just eager to help the team win. Phillips is also confident in his replacement at weakside linebacker, Geno Hayes. Plus, several injured players will not play vs. the Dolphins.
Morris Addresses QB Trade Rumors
Buccaneers head coach Raheem Morris addressed the speculation that the Bucs could trade a quarterback, a report that came from NFL.com. Morris said he wants to keep the best three quarterbacks, but is confident in the young quarterbacks' ability to be the backup.

Bucs Release WR Jackson
Tampa Bay released wide receiver Dexter Jackson Monday in order to trim its roster down to the NFL-mandated number of 75. A 2008 second-round pick, Jackson played in seven games for the Bucs and was sidelined in preseason with an ankle injury.
