Wilkerson Signs With Saints
Free agent defensive end Jimmy Wilkerson signed a one-year deal with the New Orleans Saints on Tuesday. Wilkerson played the last two seasons with Tampa Bay and totaled 11.5 sacks as a reserve and starter. Wilkerson tore his ACL late in the 2009 season.
   
Bucs Trade Leftwich To Steelers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers continue to stock pile draft picks for this week’s NFL Draft. The Bucs traded veteran quarterback Byron Leftwich to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a seventh-round pick on Tuesday. Leftwich started three games in 2009, and played for the Steelers in 2008. The Bucs now have 12 draft picks.
   
Ruud, Mack Sign Tenders
Tampa Bay Buccaneers middle linebacker Barrett Ruud and cornerback Elbert Mack have signed their one-year tenders with Tampa Bay. Ruud was a restricted free agent with the highest level tender. Mack was an exclusive rights free agent that couldn't sign elsewhere.
   
McCoy Is A Buc!
Tampa Bay has selected Oklahoma DT Gerald McCoy with the third-overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. McCoy fills a big need for the Bucs and provides Tampa Bay with the potential for an interior pass rusher. McCoy, a three-year starter and team captain, had 14.5 sacks in his career.
   
With Price And McCoy, Bucs Have Options At DT
UPDATED 8:20 P.M.: With the 35th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected UCLA DT Brian Price. Price provides Tampa Bay with another interior pass rusher and disruptor. Price entered the draft early after three years as a starter and has a total of 12.5 sacks in his career.
   
Tampa Bay Trades Up For Benn
UPDATED 8:25 P.M.: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have traded up three picks with the Oakland Raiders and drafted Illinois WR Arrelious Benn in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Benn provides the Bucs with a receiver that has a combination of some size and speed. The Bucs were in dire need of a receiver.
   
Bucs Take A Chance On WR Williams In Round 4
UPDATED 11:15 A.M.: With the 101st pick in the 2010 NFL Draft the Bucs drafted Syracuse wideout Mike Williams, who has first-round talent. The selection of Williams comes on the heels of drafting Illinois WR Arrelious Benn in round two. At Syracuse, Williams had off-field issues with academic suspensions.

Tampa Bay's first-round pick, DT Gerald McCoy, was overcome with emotion as he remembered his deceased mother and joined the football team he always admired growing up. McCoy wanted to be a Buccaneer, and the Buccaneers had a huge need for a disruptive three-technqiue defensive tackle.

McCoy Lands Where He Feels At Home
Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy talked about becoming a Buccaneer and why he wanted to go to Tampa Bay. McCoy said he grew up a big fan of Warren Sapp, and the Buccaneers. After his visit to the Bucs, McCoy said Tampa felt like home and this is where he wanted to be drafted.

After sorting through dozens of entries, the Pewter Report staff has determined that Frantz Medard of Ardsley, NY is the winner of this year's Pewter Report 7th-Round Steal Essay Contest. With WR being such a pressing need, Medard suggested Tampa Bay take record-setting receiver Terrell Hudgins from Elon.

Bucs Take Punter Brent Bowden
With their sixth-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Virginia Tech punter Brent Bowden. The Bucs cut Josh Bidwell and Dirk Johnson in the offseason, and had only Sam Paulescu on their roster at the position. Bowden was an All-ACC selection last year when he averaged 43.8 yards per punt.
   
Bucs To Release DT Hovan, FB Askew
The Bucs' youth movement continues as the team is expected to release DT Chris Hovan just days after drafting two DTs – Gerald McCoy and Brian Price – in the first two rounds of the draft. Hovan, who will turn 32 in May, was scheduled to make $4 million in 2010. NFL.com is reporting the Bucs will also cut FB B.J. Askew.
   
Bucs Release 6 Players, Including Sears, Hovan & Askew
In addition to releasing veteran nose tackle Chris Hovan and fullback B.J. Askew on Monday, the team parted ways with four other players, including 2007 second-round pick Arron Sears, and punter Sam Paulescu. Sears, a two-year starter at left guard, continues to battle personal problems.
