The Buccaneers traded LeGarrette Blount late on Saturday for a seventh round selection then promptly packaged the pick with another to move up to select Miami running back Mike James.
Blount Traded To Pats For Seventh-Rounder, Rights For Demps
Since the end of the 2012 season there were whispers that the Buccaneers were interested in trading running back LeGarrette Blount, and on Saturday, the final day of the 2013 NFL Draft, the Bucs shipped Blount to the New England Patriots in return for a seventh-round selection in this year's draft and the rights to former Gator speedster Jeff Demps.
Bucs Pick Up Unheralded OLB Means In Round 5
The Bucs continued to address the defensive side of the ball on the third day of the 2013 NFL Draft with Buffalo outside linebacker Steven Means, who played defensive end in college. Means had 19.5 career sacks in his Buffalo career, but will move to linebacker in Tampa Bay.
Tampa Bay Drafts Huge DE Gholston In Round 4
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers continued to address their defensive line in the fourth round, selecting Michigan State DE William Gholston. The 6-foot-6, 281-pound Gholston had 30 tackles for loss and 10 sacks in his Spartans career.
Bucs Bolster D-Line Depth With DT Spence In Round 4
The Buccaneers traded up in the fourth round to draft Illinois defensive tackle Akeem Spence, who will likely play nose tackle in Tampa Bay. Spence was one of the strongest players at the combine with 37 reps of 225 pounds.
