Dodged the first “Hire Smitty” bullet. I’d really love for Smitty to come back next season. Like with any young team, continuance is so important from year to year. The players just started to gel and play up to the aggressive nature the defense calls for. Having the same DC would set us up to hit the ground running next season.

Absolutely not! He’s shown no real remorse. I don’t want him anywhere near the Bucs. Let some other team sell their soul. Breaking a woman’s face is not just a “He was young. He made a mistake” type of offense. That is a deep rooted problem. Did any of y’all break a girls face at 18? Stop excusing his actions because she (wrongly) hit his chest…[Read more]

We all better pray that Berto figured it out over the last half of the season, and somehow finds his range again this offseason. I know a lot of fans want him gone, but just think about what that would mean. Not only a wasted 2nd round pick, but also what equates to 2 wasted picks since we used an extra 4th to move up. Berto has to be better, but…[Read more]

I had to keep reminding pessimistic fans this season that our true team was on display in week 1. It just all fell apart in Arizona. Fully healthy, the offense is lethal. Adding a true WR2, another TE & some semblance of a reliable running game, will have us in the playoffs next year.
As far as Center goes, I like Hawley, but we do need an…[Read more]
I don’t know how any Bucs fan could look at our team and not feel optimistic. I think we’re all so tired of losing that it gets easy to focus on the negative and miss all the positives the team accomplished this year. Changing a losing culture and years of bad drafting/FA pickups doesn’t happen over night. I think we’re two years (and great…[Read more]
RootsCrew commented on the post, Shelton: Winston Shows Why He’s The Bucs’ Best QB – Ever 2 weeks ago
Well, enjoy living in denial land, cause Jameis isn’t going anywhere. The rest of us will keep living in the real world where we acknowledge our QB’s faults, but also acknowledge his strengths. We also can objectively look at why his INT total was high this season. We look at the factors that contributed to his play and turnovers. But, you just…[Read more]

Statement 1: I don’t think anyone would complain about bigger WR’s on the team, but we really need a WR with speed+route running + separation ability. As CG said, Corey Davis possess all 3 of those qualities. Ross is a burner, but you saw him get a little pushed around by NFL caliber CB’s. As far as the high throws, I do believe those will always…[Read more]

Good. I thought he struggled a lot with in game adjustments and overly conservative play calling. Balancing the two jobs has to be very difficult and Dirk even acknowledged it throughout the season. Rather him be great at just being a head coach, than him be just good as a OC/HC. He still needs to be heavily involved with Jameis and the offense,…[Read more]

Naples – What’s best for the Bucs is ALWAYS what I think about first. If a player that is best for the Bucs just happens to be a Nole, all the more better. I really just want the best players on the roster. Regardless of school affiliation.
You make great points about the running backs drafted in the last 6 years. But so did Scott when he…[Read more]
100% agree on bringing back Gholston and Spence. They’ve both produced and add necessary pieces to our DL. Plus, they both WANT to come back. We need players who love Tampa and want to play for the Bucs. That matters when things get tough. I’ll take mercenaries, KeShawn for example, but I want more guys who play here because they love it.
A great Fab 5, Scott.
I don’t mind being called an FSU homer (I am) by saying it would be wise to draft Dalvin Cook. The familiarity he and Jameis already have, coupled with his burst, vision, elusiveness, our the backfield hands and pass pro ability can’t be ignored, just because he went to FSU. I feel like mentioning the Bucs should draft a…[Read more]

What an absolute clown show the last three weeks. Doug deactivated. Sims & Brate placed on IR. Gholston injured. Dot being stuck in concussion protocol. It’s like the Football Gods decided to let the air out of the balloon, after filling it up with hope. Maddening. Still hopeful of a win this Sunday to salvage a winning season. We cannot go into…[Read more]

Hey Bucnut. I’ve seen your posts on here about Winston and I generally don’t engage, cause you seem pretty set on your concerns and preference to Mariota. To each their own. But, I’m genuinely curious as to what aspect of Mariota’s game is vastly superior to Winston’s? Cause I did some digging and not surprisngly, their stats are pretty close.…[Read more]
I think you’re confusing decision making with accuracy. Winston has only had 4 games under 60% completion all season. Only one in his last 8 games. By comparison, he had 9 games last year under 60%. So, that narrative needs to die. Yes, he misses passes. Every QB does. But to say he’s inaccurate, when the stats don’t back that up, is disingenuous.…[Read more]
Amen, Scubog. It’s so easy to be doom and gloom, instead of positive about the season. Anyone that doesn’t see improvement in this team from last year, is just looking to be negative. Huge strides. This years team would have easily won 10 games if we played last years schedule. Out of everything that happened, new coach, new DC, much tougher…[Read more]

You’re talking out of both sides of your mouth. You say he needs more weapons, and then say you haven’t been impressed with him this year. You say he had multiple chances to win Dallas game, and then you say he needed more time to throw. So, which is it?
What Jameis has done this season with 1 WR, a decent TE, a bunch of no names at WR, almost…[Read more]
RootsCrew commented on the post, 2-Point Conversion: Winston Looked Like The Rookie – Not Prescott 3 weeks, 6 days ago
Thank you for understanding the offensive concepts Dirk’s offense is built around. He rarely gives Jameis the easy throw or check down to help get the offense going. Even in the 4th, when Gos was getting blown up, nothing quick and easy to move the chains. Maddening. Evans is almost unguardable on a slant route. He rarely runs them.
It’s so convenient to just gloss over that his fumble and INT were a direct result of his arm being hit before he released the ball. All they see is 4 TO’s and the sky is falling. It was even crap of Dirk to mention the first INT in his post game presser. It was a fail mary he called.
This article’s title is absurd and ventures into the realm of that fanboy site with the talking Joe’s. But, this is par for the course when Winston doesn’t have a stellar game. Ignore whatever previous good play he’s had and dive right into the negative. Pretty easy for Dak to be poised when he has all day to make his progressions and hit the easy…[Read more]

I mostly agree with your takes about the Bucs, but like you said, it’s in the eye of the beholder. I’d rather our offense have 350+ yards of offense, 3 TD’s even if that meant a turnover. (In a win obviously) The offense was stuck in the mud yesterday. It simply can’t continue over the last 3 games. I put the blame equally on Dirk, Jameis, WR, &…[Read more]
