Last December, Davis Cornwell, the attorney for Jameis Winston, stated that if Winston assault accuser Erica Kinsman filed a civil suit against Winston, his camp would countersue. Last month Kinsman’s attorneys did file a civil suit against the former Seminoles quarterback and on Friday Corwell kept his promise.
According to Patrick of Nohe of TomahawkNation.com, “Winston is countersuing Kinsman for defamation, defamation per se and tortious interference with prospective business advantage.
In the countersuit against Kinsman, who is a former FSU student, Winston claims that she has knowingly perpetuated a lie about him, slandered him in the press and damaged his reputation to the point where it has cost him substantially in terms of potential future earnings.”

The only winners here are the lawyers.
Winston will clear his name and then have a much higher earning potential. All the lawyers fees will be well spent.
Winston has been investigated multiple times over this and never charged, but still Kinsman and her legal team persist. This countersuit will likely create another stalemate, but his earning potential will be tied to his future actions and success, not the countersuit. Like I said, the lawyers are the victors here.
My guess is that Miss Kinsman just wanted this all to go away so she could get on with her life but her attorneys and other women’s advocate groups want to keep it going for their own gain. Sad that it snowballed like this.
Not terribly interested in these goings on, but as I recall Offense is the best defense!
If I’m Winston I would be doing the same thing. There is no question Winston lost hundreds of thousands of dollar in marketable income before he was drafted. Even now he still is being effected by loss of marketable income most Heismen Winners and Number 1 draft picks usually obtain. Like i said before, two immature 18 year old kids being stupid and attorney’s benefit on their mistakes.
It makes sense to file a countersuit. Especially since Kinsman is looking for 7 million dollars in “hush” money in her civil suit. His countersuit means he will have to testify as to the events of the evening since he is accusing Kinsman. A burden of proof will fall on he and his legal team that it was consensual sex and that Kinsman is a parasite extorting money from him. Tough to do. This will be interesting to see how it unfolds. I feel bad for him and her. Is Kinsman ready for the media onslaught that is about to come? Clearly Jameis is well versed in speaking to the media.
