NFL: MAY 09 Buccaneers Rookie MinicampBefore seeing new Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston even throw his first NFL pass, some are already making some bold predictions about his success – or in some cases his lack thereof. And not just fans, but members of the national media.

CBSSports.com NFL writer Will Brinson released his NFL predictions for wins in 2015 for every NFL team and doesn’t see the Bucs making a run at the NFC South this year. While fair, and a prediction I tend to agree with, Brinson, in his commentary on the Bucs, said he thinks Winston will struggle mightily tossing the pigskin to the right team.

In his predictions released on Wednesday Brinson wrote, I think he’s the most “pro ready” quarterback in this class and will probably have more immediate success than Marcus Mariota, but I also think he’s going to throw 30 interceptions. Yes, THIRTY.”

The former FSU star certainly struggled at times last season with turnovers, particularly in the first half of games, tossing a total of 18 interceptions in 2014 for the Seminoles, and there is reasons to believe Winston’s interception total will be inflated at least the early in his career with his gunslinger mentality. But to say 30 interceptions? The only Buccaneer quarterback to eclipse the 30 mark was Vinny Testaverde who threw 35 picks in 1987.Vinny Testaverde

I see Winston throwing interceptions in 2015, but I would be hard pressed to believe it will approach 30. Time will tell, and I may eat my words come the January 1 after the regular season is over, but if I am a betting man (which I am not) I would certainly take the under.

These writers that predict what will happen in the NFL is about as useful as a screen door in a submarine. Nobody knows. He writes these things in order to get clicks.

How many fumbles does this soothsayer predict Mariota will have?

He’ll definitely throw his share of picks this year, especially with the way he takes chances and anticipates. But 30? Congrats, sir you got your click bait. I like the comparison labucfan, that got a chuckle from me.

I concur he will throw a lot of picks this year – but 30 would mean Koetter was incompetent as an OC IMO, and I don’t think Koetter is incompetent. To throw 30 the kid would have to be showing no progress over the course of the year and have Koetter running the same plays over and over to try and teach him some lesson or something…seems really unlikely….now 20 picks, that could happen IMO because I see him throwing 4 alone in one early game…
