The Tampa Bay Buccaneers promoted defensive tackle Jon Bradley from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday.

The 6-foot-, 301-pound Bradley originally entered the National Football League as an undrafted free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles. He joined the Bucs’ eight-man practice squad on Oct. 20.

In order to make room for Bradley, the Bucs released quarterback Jason Garrett from their active roster.

Tampa Bay’s decision to release Garrett suggests the Bucs believe Chris Simms, who has been sidelined since Oct. 10 with a sprained shoulder he sustained in the first quarter against New Orleans, is healthy enough to serve as the Bucs’ third-string signal caller vs. the Chiefs on Sunday.
