The Buccaneers are set to kickoff the 2015 preseason opener as they travel to Minnesota to take on the Vikings Saturday night.
While the game won’t count in the win and loss column, excitement and anticipation still rides high in Tampa as rookie quarterback Jameis Winston takes the field for the first time in a Bucs uniform. All eyes will be watching as the No. 1 overall pick leads the offense, throws from the pocket and handles pressure from an opposition who, unlike his teammates during camp, are permitted to hit him.
Of course, the contest will feature plenty of other starters (at least for the first quarter), as well as position battles that will likely last throughout the preseason. Whether it’s Louis Murphy and Kenny Bell at slot receiver or Garrett Gilkey and Ali Marpet at right guard, or even Kwon Alexander challenging Bruce Carter at middle linebacker, Saturday night will be the first competitive atmosphere in 2015 to make a good first impression.

I went to the Urban Dictionary and looked up the word buzz-kill and it said “something that spoils or ruins an otherwise enjoyable event or Mark Cook. What the..lol!
I’m not going to lie Mac, I’m excited and nervous to see tonight. IT’s finally here, we get to see our first action. Very interested to see how our line plays just as much as Jameis. I have my DVR set to record the game since I have to work, but can’t wait to watch it later.
Who cares who wins. Vikings have a game on us and have been able to practices more than us. I would play Winston and starting line up 1st and 3rd Qtr for a couple series each. It’s about timing at this point and not whether we are going against the starters, back ups. go bucs!
Not sure how one goes about predicting the score of an exhibition game – but I think the guys who aren’t going to make our team will beat the guys who aren’t going to make their team 32-16. Most of all I just hope the injury bug is kept at bay….please let GMC sit and watch this one…
The Bucs will select in the top 5 again if we don’t clean up the trenches. Granted this is the first preseason game but no pressure from our ends against a backup at tackle is unacceptable. Gilkey showed why I never believed in that camp hype train this year, cut that bum and give a more deserving player a shot. Leonard Johnson is another that needs to be cut. The conservative wagon made us miss out on Collins in the draft and Gulette after he was cut. Hopefully one day we smarten up and start taking chances on players that help our team instead of dragging dead weight like Gilkey and others around.
