The 49ers defense allowed Redskins QB Mark Brunell to complete 13-of-20 passes for 252 yards and toss three touchdowns, including two to TE Mike Sellers. ‘Skins WR Santana Moss hauled in five passes for 112 yards and a touchdown while RB Clinton Portis rushed for 101 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries. San Francisco rookie QB Alex Smith completed 8-of-16 passes for 92 yards and threw an interception. Rookie RB Frank Gore rushed nine times for 89 yards, including a 72-yarder for a touchdown. Running back Kevan Barlow carried the ball 14 times for 54 yards and a touchdown. San Francisco allowed Smith to be sacked three times.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are coming off their bye week.

49ers: C Jeremy Newberry (knee), T Patrick Estes (ankle) and WR Brandon Lloyd (back/hip) are probable. WR Arnaz Battle (knee) and QB Alex Smith (knee) are questionable, and T Jonas Jennings (shoulder) and WR Otis Amey (ankle) are doubtful. CB Ahmed Plummer (ankle) and LB Saleem Rasheed (knee) are out.

The Last Time These Two Teams Met: Tampa Bay and San Francisco last clashed in November of the 2004 season. The Bucs defended their home turf by sending the 49ers back to San Francisco with a 35-3 loss.
