The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made a pair of changes to their defensive backfield Tuesday, adding rookie cornerback Mike Mickens to their 53-man roster and releasing CB Marcus McCauley.

A 2009 seventh-round draft pick out of Cincinnati, Mickens spent the first half of his rookie season on the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad.

The 6-foot, 186-pound Mickens had a productive collegiate career, notching 233 tackles, one sack, 48 passes defensed and a school-record 14 interceptions at Cincinnati. However, a knee injury he sustained late in his senior year caused Mickens to fall in the NFL Draft.

Although they could not conduct a workout with Mickens, who is sporting No. 30 in Tampa Bay, since the team picked him off Dallas' practice squad, the Bucs believe the talented cornerback is healthy.

McCauley was signed by the Bucs on Oct. 20.
