The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Thursday that they have signed wide receiverFreddie Martino and have been awarded safety John Lowdermilk off of waivers from the Minnesota Vikings.
Martino (6-0, 195), originally entered the league with the Atlanta Falcons in 2014, as a college free agent out of North Greenville. Martino spent the 2014 season with the Falcons, seeing time on both the team’s practice squad and active roster, appearing in one game. After spending the 2015 offseason and preseason with Atlanta, Martino was waived. He signed with the Philadelphia Eagles and spent the 2015 season on the team’s practice squad. He will wear No. 16 for the Buccaneers.
Lowdermilk (6-1, 210) comes to Tampa Bay from Minnesota, after signing with the Vikings following the 2015 season. A native of Edina, Minnesota, Lowdermilk played collegiately at Iowa and entered the NFL as a college free agent in 2015, spending the offseason and preseason with the San Diego Chargers, before being signed to Minnesota’s practice squad later that year. He will wear No. 33 for Tampa Bay.
The team has also waived safety Traveon Henry and wide receiver Dez Stewart.
