The Buccaneers officially interviewed Dirk Koetter for their vacant head coaching position on Tuesday, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.
Koetter, who recently made a stop in San Francisco and reportedly impressed the 49ers, is the third candidate to formally sit down with general manager Jason Licht. Tampa Bay’s other two interviews were with Carolina defensive coordinator Sean McDermott and Arizona offensive coordinator Harold Goodwin. Though, neither coach – McDermott or Goodwin – appear to be leading candidates.
Since Lovie Smith’s firing last Wednesday, Koetter has been generally seen as the front-runner to land the Bucs head-coaching job. Many believe it was the Miami Dolphins’ initial interest that forced Tampa Bay to make a power play move.
In his first season with the Bucs – ninth as an NFL OC – Koetter orchestrated the most prolific offense in franchise history, compiling over 6,000 yards (375.9 average per game) behind a rookie quarterback and several other first-year players. The unit ranked fifth in the league, marking the fourth time Koetter’s led a top 10 offense. The other times were with Jacksonville in 2007 and Atlanta in 2012 and 2014.
Last Thursday Licht called Koetter a “strong candidate” while former general manager Mark Dominik predicted on Sunday that Koetter would be hired by the Bucs no later than Wednesday. Other big-name candidates – Josh McDaniels and Nick Saban, among others – have been speculated, but Koetter is still widely believed to be the favorite and an official interview only strengthens that belief.

And If he doesn’t come Tampa tryed. The NY Giants wants saben wants him also.Lets see what happen-GO BUCS
Saban can’t coach men; only boys.
georgehicks; it would take a lot of money for Saban to leave a good gig he has at Alabama. If I was him, I’d stay and focus on being the greatest College Head Coach in history.
if you go to dirks Wikipedia page it already has him as head coach
