MOBILE, Ala. – Tampa Bay spent Monday interviewing several coaches at Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama.

The Bucs need to fill several vacancies on their coaching staff, including the defensive line coach and defensive backs coach, which are two positions that became available when Rod Marinelli and Mike Tomlin left for Detroit and Minnesota, respectively.

Tampa Bay could also be searching for a defensive quality control coach as it appears Joe Woods will not be returning.

The Bucs staff, including head coach Jon Gruden, defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin and general manager Bruce Allen, spoke with several coaches Monday, including defensive backs coaches John Hoke, Willy Robinson and Lorenzo Ward.

The Bucs appeared to express the most interest in Hoke, who served as a defensive backs coach for the Houston Texans from 2002-05. Hoke became unemployed when Don Capers was fired earlier this month.

Hoke served an assistant head coach/defensive coordinator/DBs coach at the University of Florida from 1999-01. He coached defensive backs at the University of Missouri from 1994-98.

Robinson spent last season coaching the New Orleans Saints’ defensive backs. He also held the title of senior defensive assistant during his one-year stint with the Saints. In addition to working with New Orleans, Robinson also worked with San Francisco (2004), Pittsburgh (2000-03) and Seattle (1995-98) in the NFL.

Ward has been Virginia Tech’s defensive backs coach since 1999. He is considered a great recruiter and played an instrumental role in developing several pro talents, including DeAngelo Hall, Eric Green, Vincent Fuller, Pierson Prioleau, Ronyell Whitaker and Anthony Midget among others.

The Bucs are expected to continue interviewing coaches on Tuesday.
