LAST WEEK: The New York Jets couldn’t escape Baltimore with a win last Sunday. Instead, they lost to the Ravens, 13-3. The Jets produced just 152 yards of total offense, and running back Curtis Martin rushed for just 30 yards on 13 attempts. Jets third-string quarterback Brooks Bollinger started in place of injured QBs Chad Pennington and Jay Fiedler, but struggled, completing 14-of-28 passes for 149 yards and getting sacked five times. Ravens RB Jamal Lewis carried the ball 29 times for 81 yards and scored the game’s only touchdown on a 1-yard run in the third quarter. Baltimore dominated the time of possession, 38:01 to 21:59.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the visiting Detroit Lions last Sunday, 17-13. Bucs wide receiver Joey Galloway caught seven passes for a career-high 166 yards and two touchdowns while running back Michael Pittman accounted for 126 yards of total offense and scored on a 41 touchdown pass from QB Brian Griese. Griese threw two touchdowns but had four turnovers on the day, and three of them led to all13 of Detroit’s points. The Bucs defense only allowed the Lions to convert 2-of-12 third down attempts.

THE LAST TIME THESE TEAMS MET: Tampa Bay and the New York Jets last clashed during the 2000 regular season. The Jets escaped Raymond James Stadium with a 21-17 win over the Bucs.
