The task of winning their second game in a row just got a bit more difficult for the Buccaneers with star linebacker set to miss his first game of his career with a hamstring injury.
David originally suffered an injury in last week’s 27-7 win at Washington but was able to continue to play in the game. On Wednesday David was on the practice field for the Bucs but did not participate on Thursday or Friday.
With David out the Bucs may turn to Brandon Magee who is listed as David’s backup on the team’s depth chart, or they could slide SLB Danny Lansanah over to the weakside position with Dane Fletcher replacing Lansanah on the strong side.
UPDATE: Lansanah will get the start at weakside linebacker for David and Orie Lemon will start at the strongside spot for Lansanah the Bucs announced. Alterraun Verner will be active and start for Tampa Bay and Jacquies Smith will start in place of Will Gholston at left defensive end.
Bucs inactives for Sunday: WR Robert Herron, RB Mike James, CB Crezdon Butler, CB C.J. Wilson. LB Lavonte David, T Kevin Pamphile and DL Da’Quan Bowers
