Tampa Bay assistant quarterbacks coach Jeremy Bates spent this week in Mobile helping coach the South team’s quarterbacks at Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama. As it turns out, he was auditioning for another job.
Bates, who was scheduled to enter his fourth season with the Bucs, has accepted a quarterbacks coaching job with the New York Jets, according to several reports.
The Bucs hired former Jets offensive coordinator Paul Hackett earlier this week to serve as the team’s quarterbacks coach. That position was left open when John Shoop’s contract was not renewed by the Bucs.
