The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made three picks in the seventh and final round of the 2006 NFL Draft, selecting Oregon cornerback Justin Phinisee, Clemson defensive end Charles Bennett and Michigan tight end Tim Massaquoi.

The 5-foot-11, 200-pound Phinisee recorded 183 tackles (8.5 for a loss), three sacks, seven interceptions and 19 pass breakups during his collegiate career.

Phinisee also made his mark as a return specialist. As a senior, he returned 25 punts for 289 yards (11.6 avg.), including a 69-yard return for a touchdown. He added 66 tackles, which was third best on the team, eight passes defensed and four interceptions as a defensive back.

In 2004, Phinisee averaged 15.4 yards per punt return and notched a 73-yard punt return for a touchdown vs. UCLA.

With their second seventh-round pick, the Bucs stayed on the defensive side of the ball, selecting Bennett.

Bennett (6-3, 254) started 22 of his final 23 career games, registering 101 tackles (26.5 for a loss). He notched 115 tackles (27.5 for a loss) 9.5 sacks and three interceptions during his four-year career at Clemson.

As a senior, Bennett earned All-State honors from the Orange-burg Touchdown Club by notching a career-high 53 tackles and 3.5 sacks.

Tampa Bay’s third and final pick of the 2006 NFL Draft, Massaquoi, was a 2004 All-Big Ten first-teamer, three-year letterman and two-year starter at tight end at Michigan.

Massaquoi (6-4, 248) started 20 of the 38 games he played in during his four-year career at Michigan. He caught 35 career passes for 304 yards and two touchdowns.

As a senior, Massaquoi was an All-Big Ten first teamer. He started 11 of 12 games at tight end and ranked fifth on the team in receptions with 18 for 184 yards.
